Hi all, I wonder if anyone got previous experience to share with me regarding the removal of the lower gondola? I´d appreciate your tips and advice! I´m considering building a field modified recon version. There´s no problem in removing the bombsight and the BoLa attaching strips, but what kind of a hatch should I try to build there to cover the larger hole? Just an almost straight, single plate with hinges in the back - can it be that simple? Another pieces to cover the forward openings then and that´s it? How true to prototype is the Revell representation of the surface below, no, actually above, the gondola? Does that require recontouring of some kind?

You'd like to build an A-17 ? A rare version, most torpedo carrying Junkers were A-4.

Nope, an A-4 the KG 30 removed armour, bola, dive brakes, two bomb racks etc to lose weight and gain range to patrol the Arctic waters. No torps this time, my KG 26 A-4/Torp has its BoLa intact.

Judging from photos of the D variant, there was just a square (or almost square) hatch hinged at the front.  Or so my memory says... But then, things might have been different with a unit modification rather than a factory-built fit.

Maybe they used somekind of a Rustsatz?
