OK.  I'm the first in...a dubious distinction considering the build I am submitting.  Oh well.  I think if I went through the stash and removed any kit that had a 3 Star or less rating, I would have about 5 or 6 kits.  This is no exception.  This was a real dog to build at times as the WiP confesses.  The parts didn't fit, the struts were not right, the resin was strange and didn't take to the CA very easily.  The decals?  They mostly fell apart and I spent a long time reconstructing and then overpainting the pieces that couldn't be fixed.  Easily seen, too.  In retrospect I shaped have painted the white stripe and then masked and over-sprayed with red.   Bah!  Once again, I have built a good model that looks best from about 75cm away.  Rigging is monofilament, stretched sprue for the cabane struts and EZLIne for the radio wires.   So here is the Octopus/Pavla 1.72nd scale U.S. Army Air Force OA-12A Duck,  10th Rescue Squadron Alaska Air Command, Ladd AFB, Fairbanks Alaska, 1947.  Quack quack.

Here's the second of this GB for me.  The Chilean Navy's Cessna 0-2 Skymaster, the kit from Airfix,  1/72nd o course. Custom decals from Arctic Decals, mostly OOB...WiP here...

The kit itself is a basic Airfix 'old mould' from the late 60s/70s and suffered from some warping that I was not able to correct.  I hope it isn't visible.  It is a tail sitter, which I forgot, so I have had to attach a small post in the back made from clear sprue.  Paints are all Vallejo Air.  This is a cute little plane and I am very happy to have built it.  Any real problems were of my own making.  I have one more of these Airfix Oscar Deuces and I'll get it built when we do a FAC/COIN GB as a more traditional Viet Nam era aircraft.  Now...the question is, should I stay in this GB for another build or hop over to Grumman and build a Spanish Delfin?  I'll decide by the end of the day.

Have a lovely Christmas time and may the New Year bring you all the gifts that life may offer!

Hiya Folks,..... another Aussie Catalina,..... this one is an earlier PBY-4 with a chequered history,.....having flown with the US Navy in the Phillipines and Dutch East Indies it was abandoned here but then repaired by a Dutch crew who flew it to Australia during the fall of the East Indies to the Japanese. Following an overhaul by the RAAF the `boat' was re serialled as A24-28 and it became `C' of the Seaplane Training Squadron at Rathmines in 1942-43, wearing a Dark Ocean Blue & EDSG scheme with black undersides. The scheme on the model was applied by rattle can with the EDSG brush painted on top.

Here is the WIP;

Hiya Folks,........ Something a little different, here is the Airfix 1/72nd Dakota built as the aircraft gifted to British Airborne Forces which resided in Aldershot for so long before it was moved with the Parachute Regiment to Colchester where it has recently been refurbished. During its RAF service this aircraft was a VIP transport and amongst the units which operated it was the RAF Coastal Command Communications Flight at RAF Bovingdon, Herts from 1958 until the 1960`s.

Here is the WIP;

USN PBY-5A Catalina, 1943

1/104 Monogram kit (originally from 1955).

Painted with an odd-ball selection of paints and decorated with home-made decals (because I lost the originals!).

“Mo Beastie grànda” or in English My ugly Beastie ! Here I present my Douglas B-18A #3 from the 27th Bomb (Reconnaissance) Squadron, 25th Bomb Group. Borinquen field/Ramey Air Force Base Puerto Rico winter 1939-40, Neutrality Patrol Caribbean.

     Its an ugly plane but I've always had a soft spot for the darn thing. When i heard about this build i knew i was going to do an early war or Neutrality patrol aircraft. I owe a # of member’s a great deal of thanks for all the help and fun conversation. Id mostly like to thank the Hosts for the build. Without further talk here she is.

1/72 S-3B Viking "Santa Tracker"

Built using Hasegawa 1/72 S-3A Viking kits and Twobobs decal sheet.

Rescribe the panel lines, and add minor modifications to make it as S-3B.

It's not a contest winner, but it's one addition to the display, and one less stash..Thanks to this GB!

PS: sorry for the pictures quality, I'm struggling with photographing the model due to it's wing span, and lighting, even in out door setting...

My Lansen from the Swedish Air Force is finished.
The kit is Tarangus in 1/48 brush painted with AKAN acrylics.
I've used most of the dedicated PE sets for it.
I havn't added the boarding ladder to it.
I've started on it, but didn't finish it due to the complexity in the design.
Perhaps I'll add it later, or to the next Lansen.

Hi all

Here is my effort for this GB

It’s HR116 a Mosquito from 333 “The Outriders” squadron

Please excuse the heavy weathering - all documentary evidence shows really just how hard these workhorses were pounded, used and weathered.

I had so much fun making this and I learnt so much along the way.

I hope you enjoy the end result as much as i enjoyed the build.

Thanks to the hosts for a really fun build forum.

Here’s my first WIP if you’re interested.

Heinkel He.115 In Coastal Command Service, BV186 'The Cunning Foxes'.

Following the Matchbox GB in 2017, I always fancied doing a Heinkel He.115 in coastal command type colours and there seems to be a local connection as I have come across a thread which talks about one of the 'captured' He115's seen at or operating out of Woodhaven on the Tay, which is directly opposite my boyhood home of Dundee.

Here is a Matchbox He.115 in RAF Coastal Command colours which hopefully replicates that one-off aircraft.

Another greatly enjoyable build of an old kit to finish the Matchbox business and masses of learning on the subject matter to boot. Thanks to @tonyot for the inspiration, @Romeo Alpha Yankee and @Robert Stuart for hosting and all the usual BM suspects for their input and support. All the best. Mike.

Revell Focke Wulf Fw 200 Condor a real youngster of a kit from 1971 ! This kit has been in the stash longer than I can remember, so this GB was the perfect reason to rescue it from its long period of inactivity.

The build wasn't without its problems but thanks to everyone on here for the humour and encouragement we got there in the end !

Pictures below, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did building it

cheers Pat :cheers:
