Greg Law
I have changed my idea about building two Ju 188 models. Instead I will build one of the first German operational torpedo planes and their last one. The first is a 1/48 Special Hobby He 115 which will have the bombay opened to include a torpedo being loaded. I'm thinking might be a Diorama. I'm doing this because of the special help I got from Special Hobbies Petr on a tricky order for some old kit replacement canopies, which worked out very well thanks to Petr and Special Hobby. The second is the Ju 188A-1 which was the last German torpedo plane which arrived a day to late to see action. It is one of the original Ju 188 models. The Dragon 1/48 Ju 188A-1. This plane will in fact take two kits to build. The Ju 188A-1 kit and the other a Ju 88 kit, This goes well with my tradition of having to use two kits to build one plane. (Just call me Two Kit Greg) The reason behind having to use two kits for this Ju 188 is when the kit arrived a week or so ago it was missing the "A" sprue ( Main fuselage) and had an extra "L" sprue, as you can see in the photo. Still the seller gave me my money back which allowed me to get the Ju 88 for it. Take this as a warning, if you get this kit get the seller to check it is complete. It looked like a factory mistake. Like the last project idea I expect this project to start in the Christmas break and take a good part of the year.
Greg Law
Just to get the ball rolling. This is the He 115 fuselage and wing parts compared to my 1/48 Oscar I'm building for the Pacific GB. It is a big model.
fubar57
Looking forward to the 115 build as I wasn't aware of it kitted in 1:

Although I think there are a few issues with it that will need attention if I remember right. Special Hobby still sells a Swedish / Finnish version of it. It looks like the same kit with different decals. The Ju 188 is an interesting kit.it is a DML Dragon kit. When I compare the plastic of the Ju 188E-1 which is a dragon kit with this A-1 the E-1's plastic is much nicer.the A-1's plastic looks softer and the panel lines don't look as sharp. I will most likely use as much of the Ju 88 kits parts as I can.
Greg Law
Did some work cleaning up the He 115's main parts. The odd thing I came across was there are four elevator parts as there are two versions. One set was very nice the other set has a rough surface and will need sanding guess which one I have to use? I will give you a hint. I need my sanding block. This kit is going to be such fun.☺

Greg Law
If anyone is interested I have moved this Ju 188A-1 project over to the Specialist group build. I will be getting heavily into it towards the end of next week. Anyone interested in the Ju 88 planes will be interested to know that there are some nice 1/48 scale builds starting in the Specialist group build.
TallBlondJohn
Always loved the HE-115, got the old matchbox 1/72 in the stash. If you go for the winter camo check photos, it was field applied very roughly over the existing pattern.
