A couple of recent completions

Recommended Posts

So over the years I have generally made, and screwed up, WW II Royal Air Force aircraft.  This year, however, I have started to get a thing for

making an RAF jet or two.  But then, as usual, before you know it you have about twenty or so jets in the stash !!!  Thats fine, but I only ever complete four

or five kits a year, so the twenty jets along with the other seventy or eighty in the stash mean, realistically, my eyes and liver will go before I ever get round

to finishing them.  And that is without the 1/72 RAF Phantom, B-25 & B-26 that Airfix are due to release in the next few months....and then next years goodies!!!

So anyway, back on subject, I have finally plucked up courage to take a few photos of the last couple of models I have made.  Never happy about doing this, I am very

conscious of just how good most of the models are on here and how my kits sit in the pecking order, but having looked at models on here for seven years, and the

only set of photos I posted previously disappeared in the Photoshop scam, time to play fair and throw some photo's on BM.

Photos not the best as taken on my phone

First up, the 1/72 Revell Meteor F4.  Went together reasonably well.  I had fitting problems around the nose and on the Engine Intake/Exhausts, however, that is likely due to mY

being a biff.  Fitting weight in the nose was bit of a game (which may link to the problems getting the nose together) although I did put in slightly less than the 10g recommended

by Revell.  Brush painted using GW Runefang Steel for the HSS.  Kit decals used for 600Sqn RAuxAF.  Decals settled nicely, the colours seem in register but I really do find the process of

having to place the red centre circle on the roundel separate to the Blue/White outers to be blinking frustrating 🤬

Next up is the classic Airfix 1/72 Hunter FGA9.  The model, and its issues are well known, and much as I would to have at least sorted the Dog Tooth issue on the wings,

with a couple of Revell examples waiting in the wings to be made up, I decided life was just too short !!!!  The grey was Tamiya XF-10 Rattle Can, the Green was Humbrol

Acrylic 163 and the silver bottom was from a generic Plasticote Rattle can.  The Pitot tube was replaced with a cut down needle and while you cannot see it in the photo's,

a brass tube was inserted into the tail to mimic an exhaust pipe.  The seat was from PJ Productions, and although it did not seem quite right I used it, along with the

Airwaves Etch set to improve the cockpit, not that you could see much through the Airfix canopy.  Decals were a mix of the Airfix originals and Model Decal MD026 for the stencils,

while the roundels and Sqn Markings for the 8/43 Sqn jet came from the lovely Xtradecal X70247 Hunter FGA9/PR10 set.  Brass Tubing added for the ammo chutes around the Sabrina's

and what I assume to be some type of fuel vent on the Port rear of the Aircraft.  Really pleased with this, there is always something satisfying about making an old kit look half decent.

From the back of the following picture you can tell what I was getting out of the loft this weekend......

With the kits on the top shelf in the 'next to make' shelf, Mrs PLC1966 may be unaware of the boxes hidden at the back of the garage, I hope !!!

That's it for now, but I have found the upload process is pretty easy, so I may well break into the Detolfts

and embarrass myself with some other pictures sooner rather than later...although as I average a set of photo's every three

and a half years don't hold yer breath.....

Cheers
