Good evening,

It’s been a long time since my last post...A new Formula 1, from 1967 (Greaaaat year!)

Here are few pics of the engine.dsc02316.jpgdsc02315.jpgdsc02314.jpgdsc02311.jpgdsc02312.jpgdsc02313.jpgdsc02317.jpgdsc02320.jpgdsc02321.jpgdsc02322.jpgdsc02319.jpgdsc02318.jpgdsc02323.jpgdsc02324.jpgdsc02327.jpgdsc02328.jpgdsc02325.jpgdsc02326.jpg

More soon.

Hi,

Me again...

Engine progress.

I was not that happy with the kit throttle linkage... So I decided to build new ones with machined parts from RBMotion.

img_3211.jpgimg_3210.jpgimg_3212.jpgimg_3213.jpg

It was also necessary to show a bit of interest regarding the exhaust and prepare the white metal parts of the Spaghetti:

img_2610.jpg

To prime and paint them:

img_9018.jpg

img_9017.jpg2524d710.jpga22c5f10.jpg

Other parts are just treated to be left with a natural metal finish:

1e1bf810.jpg6b627f10.jpgwdri1810.jpg

I prefer soldering them instead of gluing for évident reasons:

I played a bit with the iron in order to replicate weld seams :

The engine connected to the gear box and vice versa, and install for test fit in its compartment:

Next to the small 1/20 sister :

Rear brake discs before assembly on the gear box:

Time for primer:img_9013.jpgimg_9010.jpgimg_9011.jpgimg_9012.jpgimg_9014.jpgimg_9018.jpg

The body is drilled in order to be riveted with MFH aluminium rivets:dsc02412.jpg

The engine is... big. Almost the size of the 1/20 kit:

I’ve modified the throttle linkage.

The White Metal original ones were not that good, so I replaced them with machined parts.

The mesh over the stacks is now done, and I must admit it was pretty fun to form and install: I’m mot unhappy with the result.

Oils have also been applied on the heat shield as well as a portion of aluminium tape on both external sides.[br]I really like the view of the trumpets through the mesh.3427ab10.jpg54afaf10.jpg6aa14d10.jpg86a18910.jpg]d9ff6e10.jpgcd7f0b10.jpg

The rear stab bar has b een remade with 1mm ø brass, which was later chemically burnished. c98da210.jpg]22f11710.jpga0e46f10.jpg

Now working on the connection rods. One started compared to raw white metal original part.a5979910.jpg

Hello Pascal,

Top work quality as usual.

I have the same question as Harvey on the welding seams !

Great you changed the throttle arms. i did the same on the Eagle 1:20 but did not post yet.

They were unrealistically flat and made of metal etched, i just used small iron rounded shape bars etc. and scratched. Next time i will look at the RBmotion solution.

best you

Sam

Good evening,

Thanks a lot for your kind comments.

I use different technics for the weld lines.

I really like to use the iron to make them as it can be seen on the front oil/water tank for example.Low temp iron and low temp solder is needed...

I fisrt put some flux on the surfaces that need to be soldered to help the solder to run easily. Once the parts are assembled, I had a bit of low temp solder to slightly thicken the weld line.

I then decrease the temperature to something around 80°C and “work” the weld line like a real one, pushing the iron to create the “wave” then pulling back the iron and pushing again for the next one. The succession of waves create the weld line.

I hope my explanation is understandable; sorry for my poor English...

I also sometimes use Archer resin weld lines, mainly when the part has to be painted. You can have an idea of the result if you have a look to my 1/12 MFH McLaren M7A WIPs.

On the following pics, the weld lines are made of photo etched from Top Studio. I think I’ve maybe also used them and others, once again, on both the 1/20 M7A and 1/20 ‘67 Ferrari 312F1 WIPs.

I hope it will be of some help.

More pics to follow ;)

I worked a bit on the small metal tanks and others parts that needed to be cleaned and polished.

Fuel filter/distributor and water expansion tank.

I also made a quick test of the pedals on the front bulkhead.487e0210.jpg2b6d2410.jpgc4da4e10.jpg9304d710.jpg

Test fit of the rear structure and tank.

Battery and coils prepaired, masked and primed.

Starting to connecting brakes and fuel pipes.

I also decided to “scratch” the Engine pan.23213310.jpg4fa70210.jpgceb4d510.jpgda059010.jpg

I hope you enjoy the WIP.

Yes very enjoyable.

You make fantastic builds and i used to follow you on another site.

Very happy you are posting here.

after you put the wash, do you coat shiny metallic parts with Gauzy or similar ?

Am frustrated waiting for 3 mm screws from MFH to progress on the Eagle.

Good evening Modelers,

Machined bolting and washers have been installed on the wheels.
An old « T » connector is modified and used to complete the front wheels brakes master cylinder.

I've just back tracked on this thread some, the last viewing was on my phone, it looks much better on my laptop, some wonderful work going on here Pascal, your detail is sublime. I've also enjoyed looking at Ferrari's engineering solutions, quite fascinating but that engine, its a bit of a novel effort to my mind.

Hi,

Thanks a lot Mate!

Sanding, welding, riveting...

Few progress in the “office” area.
Paint session, dashboard session and gear lever/selector.
I was not that happy with the instruments, so I turned new ones and made brackets from aluminium foil.
Then test fitting.
