Spookytooth
OK folks , bench time. Throttles I think. It looks better in real life. Tail fin masking next.So laid down a bit of tape and drew around them A review of the kit said to fit them after adding the decals so give them a decent bonding area. Apply a sharp scalpel. That will do for now. Also added the retraction jacks to the nose wheel doors. So, it`s time to gather all the bits and prepare for a spraying session very soon. All comments welcome. But the ejector pin marks are in the most awkward of places. On 20/04/2019 at 21:10, Nikolay Polyakov said: A lot of Tamiya tweezers... I love them! Nice progress with this bird! Thy are actually cheap Expo ones sir. And you can never have too many!!!!! On 20/04/2019 at 21:59, giemme said: You do have a tidy workbench, BTW - I'm slightly envious... Not all the time Giemme, It`s a wide bench but not deep so I have to keep reasonably tidy. While waiting to spray some more primer I decided to have a closer look at those doors. The main bay doors were warped so I gave it the hot water treatment. Then glued it in place. I am now considering in leaving the side bays open as the doors fit better open than closed. I know that that is both doors in one bit, but it could give something more to high light the drab undersides? I will ponder this one. Until then. All comments welcome. Spookytooth
Thanks @Nikolay Polyakov, @bbudde, And @giemme, a bit of progress. This lot was ready for priming, remedials and all. The upper fuselage was quite patchy after the first coat, my fault probably. The main bay doors received a severe filing/polishing session. After a coat of primer the doors looked like this. Not bad, apart from the front port corner really. The upper fuselage looks like this now. A lot better. You may have notice a background change.... I had an accident with the primer spilling a third of a bottle over the other side of my cutting mat. Oh well, time for a new one some when. All comments welcome. TheBaron
Can of sweetcorn method duly logged Simon! The primer stage always does my head in due to it being that point where illusions about the quality of my finish are cruelly shattered. Yours looks damn good though!
Nikolay Polyakov
Good work, Simon! 👍 Now the doors looks better. Your solution with a hot water was good, but if you’re not attached the doors ASAP, they’re going to twist again very soon. 2 hours ago, Spookytooth said: I had an accident with the primer spilling a third of a bottle over the other side of my cutting mat. Thanks lads, no secrets , I usually give two coats (Light) . First one to show the errors. The second hopefully covers it LOL. There was a couple of rough spots, but they were taken care of with the buffing block. 14 hours ago, Nikolay Polyakov said: Good work, Simon! 👍 Now the doors looks better. Sadly my bench is small and in our living room so I have to. Well it`s mine and the Lady Rose`s 10 wedding anniversary today , so not much may get done. Catch up later. Spookytooth
Thanks @giemme, have passed the message, good regards back dear sir. Well a bit done unexpectedly ( Time out for good behaviour I think?) Main bay doors front. Added some filler last night. Sanded that down then saw that the other side was the same. So filled there. While I had the time started on the canopy. Masked... The other clear bits to be painted. They are the landing lights and HUD . And this lot is ready for base coating. That is it for now, life beckons. All comments welcome. Simon.
