F 22 Raptor Revell 1/72 pick me up...hopefully?

Recommended Posts

Right then, thanks to @giemme, @Nikolay Polyakov, @bbudde, @The Spadgent, and @VT Red Sox Fan.

A quiet day on our anniversary, I didn`t get parole...

On with the build, after that brief interlude building the Typhoon .

Laid down some primer on the remedial`s, then sprayed the XF 2 White bout.

White 1

White 2

Then the wheels.

Tamiya XF 85.

Wheels 1

Wheels 2

A bit shabby but nowt that a spot of white won`t hide LOL.

When I get some that is, ran out while spraying.

Anyhow, what to do next?

Coffee.....

I use a diluted black paint for the tires; the diluted paint move capillary around the wheel disc and your tires take a great shape.

I’m glad to see your progress, Simon! 👍 It’s a wise choice to use an XF-2 instead of gloss or a semigloss white - in my opinion, the flat white has a better coverage.

Cheers Nikolay, I will remember that for future builds.

As for the XF 2, by the time she`s give a coat of varnish, more than likely satin at the end, it should look OK.

Right, thank you @VT Red Sox Fan, @Nikolay Polyakov, @The Spadgent, and @giemme for the kind words.

I have my Mum arriving today, so between making things ready I managed to lay some Very Dark Grey down on these few parts.

Cockpit coaming and Exhaust areas.

VDG 1

VDG 2

Rear decking and engine part.

VDG 3

And finally canopy gear and the rear doors to the "Bump stick"

VDG 4

I also did the inside of the canopy but the batteries died in the camera.

Any how, lets see what I can do over the next week.

Thanks @Nikolay Polyakov, she is getting there.

Time is on my side by the looks of it.

Out with the XF 20 Light Grey.

Right, I managed to get some batteries quickly, and was able to take a few more pics.

Canopy outer done.

LG 1

Intakes done.

LG 2

And on the fuselage too.

LG 3

And the missiles as well.

LG 4

Well, that`s about it for today.

I might be able to squeeze in some bench time tomorrow.

Thanks @giemme, @bbudde,, @The Spadgent, things progressing, well were...

@VT Red Sox Fan, the rear of the missiles are Dark Grey according to the destructions.

Base ball fan I take it? I follow The Pats in NFL.

Right I have got my mum visiting for a week, so not much time to spend on the bench.

But got this done.

Exhaust pipes?

EX 3

A pity nowt will been seen once fitted.

EX 4

As for the front end, I see a lot of Anglo Saxon expletives coming on.

Intakes 1

Yep , possibly the Dremel clone and grinding wheels to remove a lot of plastic inside.

For now I will find something else to do.

I know draw out some templates for the camo.

Well, with a bit of time on my hands, I got this lot sorted.

Templates for the dark grey blobs.

Temp 1

Temp 2

Next up, the area which I will have to probably reduce.

Intakes 2

And finally, I masked up the missiles for the above dark grey.

That`s about it for tonight.

Johnny

It will probably the end of the week before I get chance to, busy up to then.

Thanks @giemme, and @bbudde, getting there.

Right, a quick chance today at the bench.

Sprayed then masked up the tail feathers.

BM 1

And yes Giemme, an interesting paint job, as many shades of grey as your build, 4 so far.

Here is the camo.

Camo 1

Camo 2

Well that was it for today.

Oooh that paint scheme looks ace. 😍

It`s one of those that goes against the grain so to speak.

Having to lay down the darkest colours first for easier masking.

Although some of the masking is going to be fun.... especially the leading edges...

OK thanks folks.

A question for you lot.

The colour call out is this.

A = FS 36375 = XF 66

B = FS 36251 = XF 20

C = FS 36176 = XF 54.

Here are the colours.

Which Paint.

Here is the plan again.

Camo 1

What are peoples opinions?

Good idea to spray the larger areas before! :like: Nice progress, Simon. Very frustrating story with an intakes... I hope your solution will work great!
