rossm
I've built the Revell 1/72 Hurricane IIb, retrieved it from the shelf of doom, painted it, weathered it (my first real attempt) and now I come to put the undercarriage on the rake seems wrong with the legs pointing noticeably backwards. Is it: a) me b) an optical illusion c) the kit or d) none of the above? Any fix is going to involve marmalising those nice square locating holes so I want to be sure before taking drastic action. I'm a bit dischuffed as I was very happy with it so far and looking forward to posting it in RFI. Thanks in advance for any help to sort this out, Ross
Paul J
Wouldn't like to say but I think its nearly right. But Troy is one of our Hurricane masters, he'll set the record straight.
Smithy
Without photos it's tricky to say but first things first, I'd compare your model to some accurate Hurricane drawings. To start with, that will let you know whether the undercarriage is in or out of alignment. If it is out of alignment it will show in which way and from there you can work out a solution to improve it.
Mitch K
I've built a couple of these and I can't say that I noticed anything with the U/C. The way the ribbing is wrong on the area behind the canopy tends to draw the eye to the exception of pretty much any other flaw!

Thanks in advance for any help to sort this out, Ross Hmm, interesting, mine are inaccessible at the moment. Not a complaint I'd seen mentioned before, a quick google image search for "revell hurricane ii 1/72" shows models looking OK, and some with a distinct rear slant. eg the front edge is level with the ground, but is should be the rear edge Possibly the UC legs are handed, but not obviously so? Something else to check when I actually get to prod some kits as opposed just having them damn things....

Without intervention mine is likely to end up like the top photo but now i've got the bottom photo as a target I'll see what I can do. Maybe they were handed and I missed it, wonder if I can get the doors off? Thank you.
rossm
I checked and it is obvious which way the legs are handed and I got it right (phew!). Part of the problem could be the collar at the top of the leg butts up tight against the wing. I started tweaking and, of course, snapped the locating pin off the top of one leg (doh!) so it's out with the drill and wire for that. One way to solve the problem I guess! 1
