Sturmovik

Erich Hartmann´s Bf 109G-14 (Eduard kit)

Recommended Posts

My first Eduard kit, and probably my last until the Tempest V Series 2 comes out. The aircraft was easy to build, but the decals (specially the wing´s Iron Crosses) sticked as soon as they touched the surface. I ended up replacing the crosses on the wings with spares from a Cartograf printed decal sheet, since I broke one. I also almost break one of the tulips that went over the engine scoops, but I saved it.

Spinner spiral was painted.

Here´re the photos:

I wish I had as many decals as you.

You will sooner than later. I’ve only  bought one set of A/m decals  in the last 14 years. You’d be surprised how quick those and your parts bin build up. I have to go from an 8” deep tub to an 18” deep tub for my spares. I cant close the one i have now.

The parts bin has quite a few pieces, but I can still close it easily. Removing the remaining sprues helps.

As for the decals, I live in a place where its nigh impossible to get something through customs unless you want to wait hours on a line, before risking to be told you're missing a paper (customs declaration, credit card spending, mail storage fee etc...), and having to go back empy handed. I was lucky to get my hands on two 1:48 decal sheets from a guy who used to live in Germany.

Very attractively done, your paint work looks very good to my eye. :)

Steve.

The paintjob always looks better when the decals are on though, it busies up the model.

Thanks!
