We'll see Rog,(&G) we'll see

Let's start by evaluating what we want and comparing that with what we got huh

When I have been hauling away at the forward fuselage with sihrsc  it was intended to make the old canopy fit the shapes we got from the hand made fuselage extension piece and to my jaundiced eye it seems I induced an unwanted forward taper in the fuselage

Part of my reasoning behind moulding a new canopy was to give me a 'fixed point' to which the damaged front could be adjusted

Here is the new canopy 'straight off the presses' and untrimmed

P1010278.jpg

Has a definite look of work in progress doesn't it  :)

This view shows how much straight and cut-away-able acetate the Fritag method gave me, a little adjustment will give me a better fit

P1010280.jpg

What I am intend doing is try is using a filler to return the upper fuselage to that  profile and undo the filing damage I caused once the canopy is trimmed and glued on

Before that can happen I need to fit the upper switch panel

P1010283.jpg

Oops, it is falling off

Quick boys watch the scene I'm going in

Now it is refitted and the moulding trimmed to actual size the slight adjustment I expect to make can be seen round the back of the mould

A few wipes of PPP or Humbrol Putty will allow that to be fixed, I do not expect to need milliput for this resculpting

But I do have it to hand just in case

I will mask the canopy to allow the sizing work to go on then redo with Halfords High Build

That is me for tonight

What's on telly?

Magnum Force

Enjoyed that, did I actually see a bike change for when they needed agile bikes to throw about?

Thought.

I get them sometimes.

What about gluing a canopy thickness strip of plastic card (or a cut-off bit of the canopy?) around the fuselage butted up to the back of the canopy; and then re-profiling the fuselage with filler etc up to strip, so that you can do that messy job without the canopy in situ.

And then when you glue the canopy in place it'll be a perfect fit.

Just a thought.

That thought exactly matches my 'waker-upper' this morning Steve and represents what will happen next

Not getting much make-it time this morning so I've been getting in some light reading, a crime anthology by Lee Child

It has a few of my favourite characters in it and a lot of others to look into for the future

Joe Pickett, Virgil Flowers and of course Reacher with stories from Nelson DeMille and Eric van L to come

I'll do a model or two later.

Using Fritag#2 on the S-61N and 825#1 on the Wokka

Fritag#2 in progress

And

P1010292.jpg

Now of course we have to wait-n-see

A progress report follows in a short while

I will give the Tamiya Green a couple of hours to see how it comes out

Say in a screechy high-pitched voice:

"That's the way to do it"

Thank you Mr Punch! Now, where's that crocodile.....

Much better!

Ciao

What can you do?

I distorted the actual shape Colin devised so now I have to get the shape rebuilt so I can crack on

Not sure, entirely, but I suspect there may be Milliput or Humbrol putty soon

I really wish I'd had that HH-3 now, the fuselage extension would have been right, right off

Still press on,

I hope I can relieve Jamie of his old discard at Telford and have me another knock, at the Irish Coast Guard one this time

Under new management

P1010318.jpg

I am far from an expert, but I believe that is a Mk.4 (blade & tail fold etc. [not to mention a proper RN colour!]), in which case not “under new management”, but “one careful owner”.

Rivet-tastic, too [thinks of the Airfix 1/48 Mk.3 in his stash...]

I should mention for your information

ZJ128 was built in 2001 as an HC3 and was transferred to the Royal Navy and given advanced applications including the folding tail and various other alterations to make her into presumably a HC4

However this does follow as being a New Owner of the ex-RAF machine, and I have an Italeri one to consider after the S-61N, The H-19 and the Chinook are done

It is on the cards for soonish

Some for me

Was that Wessex seriously trying to get into that Harrier's cockpit?

Could only happen in nautical circles I'm sure!

In the static was a large number of Green Merlins ready for adapting to folding tail nauticals

This one was from (I understand Denmark or somewhere) so FAA only

P1010297.jpg

See the funny nose radar

Another down the line up

P1010300.jpg

Some of these were ex RAF and others bought in to make up numbers

P1010309.jpg

lots of the green ones awaiting modification and remodelling

P1010308.jpg

I'm not short of pictures to go into

How about this one, inside the hangar

P1010335.jpg

The demonstrating officer when asked if he would like these handed back to the RAF was very definite

"No they cannot have my helicopter back, it is great"

This one still had a green winch but was otherwise nicely even greys

(So far?)

Quite a 'patchwork quilt' look to the painted surface of those all green wobbly copters.  Looks all those clever artful pre & post shader types can go to town on the Merlin (that is wot its called in't it?) :)

I rather think that was when Walter was flying backwards, just for fun

Must have been ten or fifteen minutes of Wessexual pleasure for the display

I could seriously have gone home happy just for seeing this, Wasps and Lightning F35Bs were a bonus

As was the F16 and Alize demos (Alize had a Paris and a Zephyr with it)

The Typhoon was good and the Red Arrows gave one of the very best displays I have ever seen them perform

The Army heritage chaps flew a Scout and Sioux for my personal enjoyment

In all I can heartily commend the Navy Air day for sheer absolute pleasure

(there was even this to be a bit overawed too to)

Two C17s at the same show, lovely
