Excellent work Ced, they look great! Wish I could be bovvered to learn some of these packages, but all the time spent working in IT burnt me out for that sort of thing - they do look very useful though....

I’m certain that I saw them on the bottom of the radome so I looked it up and found this photo, it only shows part of them though

great catch.  I still can't remember them though!

At this point though I shall put my fingers in my ears and go la la la OR, more deviously, claim that it was an MR2 mod

is that just 'cos you don't wanna touch the big floppy thing?

Really really top job Ced

As for almost the same colour, well I'd suggest that a certain helicopter build a couple of pages away demonstrates that 'almost the same colour' is a fairly normal state of affairs in military circles

Did I mention, a really top job?

😉

Thanks Bill - glad you like it :)

I worked in the Rigger bays at Kinloss, including the fibre glass bay, but I’m not certain that all radomes had them.

Thanks Rick, giving me a great excuse! :)

One side idle of the fuselage done.

Tomorrow I’m off to Thruxton for another experience day, this time single seaters.

Too tall for the Formula Renaults, I ended up in a Sport 2000. Worryingly the steering wheel came separate!

The best part of the day, again, was the laps driving the Cayman - what a lovely, balanced car.

Great day.

Hopefully the stencils will be completed tomorrow.

Very nice work indeed Ced, and what great patience too.

I am glad you had a great day at the track, and to drive a Cayman, wow. I am super jealous, one of my favourite cars. Hmmm one day...

Keep up the good work

All the best

😆 Oh we do like our toys don't we, still big kids at heart we are....so my good lady says.

Looks like you had a good day there CedB and it stayed dry, how did you manage that?

Toys? Not at all (ahem), they're engineering evaluation exercises…

I guess it's either that or developing an unhealthy interest in new shoes, handbags, kitchens etc etc etc…

It did stay dry, thankfully, but even then some of the single seaters spun (spinned? span?) off 😱

Thanks Chris :)

My neighbour friend and I have decided that it's more sensible (and cheaper) to cease our ownership of fast cars and to spend the savings on 'experience' days like this.

Last year was the Audi R8 - disappointing.

This time single seaters - uncomfortable.

Both experiences were preceded by three 'training and assessment' laps in Caymans - our favourite bits of the days so far!

Finally, they're done:

Hoo flippin' ray!

Once they're dry I need to:

- tidy the paint on the inside of the intakes

- satin varnish

- Unmask

- lenses on the landing lights with UV glue

- fit the flaps and bay doors

- fit the sticky out aerial thingy on the back

- fit the PE wipers and icing indicator

in that order, I think.

Thanks Iain, Simon and Bill - much appreciated :)

Intakes touched up and satin varnish applied:

As usual I was making sure the transfers 'merged in' under the varnish.

Almost emptied the bottle until I realised some of the stencils have white backgrounds

Left to do

- Unmask

- lenses on the landing lights with UV glue

- fit the flaps and bay doors

- fit the sticky out aerial thingy on the back

- fit the PE wipers and icing indicator (now painted)

Lovely jubbly!

Thanks for the Cayman bit, makes me wonder if I did the right thing choosing the Merc instead (it was a choice between the two)....but I did want a convertible.....and it's still fun....and I still don't have a speeding ticket!

This is surely turning into one of your bestest builds ever Ced!

You can practically hear the roaring engines in this:

Fantastic fill work on that stripey decal and excellent lateral thinking from @AdrianMF on the diagonal of the  matter too. As young Mr. Grace opined on more than one occasion:

"You've all done very well." :clap2:

Thanks Ian :) I think the Merc is a good choice. Of course the Boxster is convertible but I think the Mercedes is, somehow, more 'refined'.

Tony you're too kind - thank you :) As always I can see all the little problems and areas where I could have done better (if I had more skills) but nothing some judicious camera angles won't hide

Thanks Rob, very kind as usual :) I had a road experience in a Vantage some time ago and it was nice, especially if you find a quiet, straight road and open the windows - that NOISE!

Gorgeous, Buffers.

Thanks PC, much appreciated :)

Masks are off and some small dings need attention. I'd also forgotten about the aerials, now added to the list.

So, left to do is now:

- lenses on the landing lights with UV glue

- fit the flaps and bay doors

- fit the sticky out aerial thingy on the back

- fit the PE wipers and icing indicator (now painted)

- rig the aerials
