After some trials and lots of Anglo-Saxon I found the only way I could do it was to stick the bottom to the crossbar (nasty), let it dry and then cut in and glue the tops.

Smart thinking!

You're definitely getting there, and I'm definitely going to sell mine. I will convert it into an Airfix Blenheim Mk 1 or possibly two Spitfire XIVs.

John

Sad(ish) to hear that John but she is big… that said if you ignore the 'issues' it's a nice kit :)

Sounds like even more work than just modding the intakes. 🤷‍♂️

Speaking of which, I've spent time today with various files re-shaping the intakes. Groan.

I've also spent time arranging the pick up of the T-Roc on Friday; after eight months wait I'm excited! I'll post a picture when I've picked it up. It better be worth the wait…

Blast of primer to highlight problems like what proper modellers do:

Just for Matt I've rounded / ramped the fronts:

… while still maintaining the appearance of squareness:

I'm definitely BOI now (Bored Of Intakes) and to be honest they don't look too bad from a distance:

…especially when viewed from their 'on the ceiling' angle:

45365207655_e4b83a248c_z.jpg

I do need to clean up and polish a bit, especially the vents.

It'll keep me busy while I'm waiting for the resin bits.

Better chase Alec - I may need to put this aside for a while.

"Like what proper modellers do"

???

To my mind, young Buffers there's no properer modeller around than Mr Ced B

You tackle em all with gusto

And a staggering number of ' letsdoit' tools

Nimmy is looking darned good Ced, I would be proud of those intakes

Just a smoothing over, maybe with PPP and a damp/wet cotton bud

Yep, I'd be proud of what you have done and how far you've come, especially having to cope with enforced merriment, company and wine

Looks the bizz!

I would leave them as they are after really smoothing them. The square look comes also from the shadow inside with the right angle of light coming in on the real photo. You won't get this on a model photo exactly, but nearly there. So everything is fine for me by now.

Btw on  demand: Will we get other sausages or steaks here on your further build? I'll have to be prepared then.  Cheers

What's this, no posts since Wednesday?

Christmas drinks etc AND (drum roll please) T-Roc!

46285933082_e4dd587af6_z.jpg

Eight months I've waited - eight MONTHS!

First impressions?
'White Silver' is White. Unless it’s next to a white or silver car in which case it’s obviously neither.
It’s very like the Golf to drive but with a more elevated driving position.
Still playing with CarPlay but seems to do what it says on the tin and saves the cost of a SatNav.

Even though I checked the height and width to make sure it fitted in the garage, I failed to consider the door length. The T-Roc seems to be longer as the gap to get out when you open the door in our old ‘designed for  the Austin Seven’ garage is thinner. Good job I’m on a diet!

In other news I've had an email from Alec who's promised to ship the resin early next week. That should allow me to progress, finally!

Hello Ced. The car looks fine and finally just in time for christmas. And yes, all the modern cars are a bit bigger than their predecessors I think. I wonder, if your christmas tree will look like that this christmas:

Btw. I'm not sure why your on diet. Looks ok to me.

Cheers

nice car Ced/batman

Smoothing?

It's in my response dude

Perfect Plastic Putty smoothed down with a damp (or wettish) cotton bud

Removes as it smooths as it finishes

It just does not shine however but smoothes like a dream

Well, will you look at tha...

...oh. I seem to have spent a week away moving house, and nothing has happened at all!

One can only hypothesize that Ced has spent the week using the new larger car boot to stock-up on Bratwurst.

Thanks Ben :) Kind of you to say I don't need the diet - must be the camera angle!

Thanks Bill :) It worked, of course - nice smooth stuff now so hopefully that's the end of the intake saga.

Not that bad CedB, after March it could be 8 years 😉. Nice motor by the way, big enough for model hauling of any scale.

Thanks Gary :)

Lovely work on the intakes Mr B. Swish motor too. Don’t worry about the Christmas pace, I’m kinda enjoying a leisurely Modelling time it suits the time  of year. 🎄

Thanks Johnny - the family are back now so modelling time limited! :)
