Romeo Alpha Yankee
This is the Revell A400M 'Grizzly' kit but as an RAF example. Built almost OOB I updated the model with some features the operational aircraft has that the kit does not. added airborne self-protection sensors on the wingtips added additional antennas and drain masts on the lower fuselage repositioned the ailerons, elevators and rudder in power off positions added nano LEDs to the cockpit and cargo bay Decals were from the excellent Babibi sheet which included the 100th Anniversary tail markings for 70SQN and the later release Atlas kit with correct walkways and door outlines. Alpha Delta 210
Excellent result. I really like the lighting. I haven't seen many of these built. Looks great on the RAF 100 table.

Mig88
Superb job and finish. Personally I'm not a fan of gimmicks but the lighting does indeed look great here. Well done! Miguel

I had issues with seems when putting the fuselage together, but that could have been self-induced when putting the wiring in. I have a build thread here:

This might be an in flight build though

Orion
Hello RAY, You made this Atlas into a very representative replica of the real transporter. Looking at the display table, very high quality build of the club members. Regards, Orion / The Netherlands.

Romeo Alpha Yankee
Thanks Steve, how good is your brushwork? Just get a BIG rattle can of grey and you will be right!
PhantomBigStu
A fantastic blast from the past, great build RAY, and @stevej60 having brushed a 1/72 b-52, I concur with the rattle can, absolute nightmare. If I can brave the 1:72 b-1 later this year I will spray it. Edited June 18, 2020 by PhantomBigStu
TheyJammedKenny!
Great build, RAY! This is most impressive. Looks great even without all the special effects, but they are, of course, special too. AT
Paul J
That' s nice and impressive. Saw a real one flying around the Horsham area a couple weeks ago. On some kind of training exercise according to local paper.

Cheers guys, Paul I managed to get up close to one over our way last year, it made the trip to commemorate the 1919 London to Australia Air Race. airbus320
I was stuck in the UK for six weeks at the start of the pandemic, these were a regular sight in the skies overhead. The sound is very distinctive! Now I’m back in Dubai I still get to see them as they come in to the local airbase, it’s certainly an impressive beast! I really like your model, it’s certainly a biggun isn’t it?! Chris

TheyJammedKenny!
Wow, Ray! That's really an impressive line-up. For those of us who thought that the A400M was large, the C-17 must be a beast! I can understand why Kinetic abandoned the idea of creating an injection-molded kit--the structural challenges of using styrene as a build material are daunting. On the other hand, Monogram's B-36 from my teen years shows what can be done in the scale, so I don't know what the limits are.
