This is Meng's M747 trailer, which is the first half of their M911 C-HET and trailer combo. I've finished it as an army surplus unit in private hands, and in a rather dilapidated state. The kit's very nice, although the size of the thing (about 14 ½ inches long) makes it a little unwieldy while painting and weathering. The only real weak parts are the rubber tyres. They're not terrible, but the fit on the rims isn't great. It's finished in a heavily faded NATO green using AK real color lacquers. The M911 itself is currently on the bench, and will hopefully be finished before the end of the year.

This is lookingfantastic Andy. Good you point out it is NATO green though, I qas sure it was Chrome Oxide Green ;)

How would you rate the performance of those new AK paints, as you were using MIG/Mr Hobby-Thinner before?

Incredible finish, the bin bags are excellent. Very intrigued about the lacquer paints, saw the new tamiya ones at IPMS today. Can’t wait to see the finished tractor unit.

They're excellent, much better than the regular AK acrylics. They've got a very high pigment level and cover really well, and the paint's quite thick in the jar so goes a long way when thinned for airbrushing. They are very matt though, so I usually mix some gloss clear into them. The NATO green is maybe a little too vivid straight from the jar (closer to the shade the French use), but that wasn't a problem here as I was fading it anyway.

It's not my technique. I borrowed it from Rick Lawler. You can see his method here.

Have you coated them in something? The plastic in those bags will start to degrade in a couple of years and you might just ended up with something that crumbles as soon as it's touched.

Lovely build, can't wait to see the M911.

No, they're not coated and they may well degrade over time. They're not glued in place though, and would be easy enough to replace. They're essentially just a bit of set dressing.
