kitman
Hi could anybody tell me what colour was generally used for the cockpits of Battle of Britain era Heinkel 111P'S. I am about to embark on the build of my new tool Airfix kit, where it recommends a dark grey. I always thought though that the colour generally used at that time was 02 grey. Thanks in advance. Procopius
As I understand it, the cockpit colour in 1940 was RLM66.
Graham Boak
Around this (aircraft build) time cockpit interiors were changing from 02 to 66 schwartzgrau. I don't know when Heinkel changed over, but I think that in this case you can probably trust Airfix.
Stein Meum
The HE111P found in the mountains in Norway and restored, had RLM66 cockpit and RLM02 elsewhere. The plane was shot down in April 1940. So Airfix is right!
