Help required ID'ing some RAF 1:72 figures

Recommended Posts

Morning All,

I'm looking for some more info on some 1:72 scale white metal figure sets I have

Does anyone recognise these two chaps?

20181027-171309.jpg

Are they from this set?

20181026-152715.jpg

Can anyone give me a title/manufacturers description for the above set and those below?

20181026-152909.jpg

20181027-170601.jpg

20181026-153034.jpg

20181026-153212.jpg

I've also got three sets of figures which I thought were produced by New Hope Design. They're based on colour illustrations in the Aircam/Airwar series of books, but MBM Models website implies these were produced by or for Aircam/Airwar publishers directly.

Who actually produced these figures? & were they marketed under different labels?

The sets I have are:-

AIR 7201 RAF Fighter Air and Ground Crew, Europe, 1939-1945

20181026-155142.jpg

AIR 7210 RAF Fighter Air and Ground Crew, Europe, 1942-1945

20181029-111945.jpg

AIR 7223 RAF Combat Units SEAC, 1941-1945

20181029-112052.jpg

Above catalogue numbers are from the MBM website, can anyone confirm if New Hope Design had the same numbers (if it was them that issued them first?

Any help on the above will be much appreciated.

AIR 7201 RAF Fighter Air and Ground Crew, Europe, 1939-1945 were definitely first produced by New Hope and were in conjunction with the Aircam/Airwar publications.  I have that set knocking about somewhere.  I believe the other two sets were also originally New Hope.

Thanks for confirmation they were originally New Hope, the packaging for these (if I ever had any) was long gone.

No ideas on the two chaps in the first photo?

Cheers

Dave

Don't know who/what the first two figures are.  My recollection is that here was a firm that focussed on railway related figures but they did a few castings of pilots/aircrew - sorry, can't recall there name and a quick google hasn't thrown anything obvious up.

The fellow on the right appears to be about to climb a boarding ladder. Were there many/any WWII fighters that used boarding ladders? Bombers? Unless he's a post war pilot and climbing up into a jet?  'Course, maybe he's climbing into a crew transport vehicle instead. Just some uneducated guesses.

Thanks Al, the two figures are pretty much the same as the rest of the Scale Model Accessories figures above, but for some reason either i've separated them or they came separate from the other sets. i was hoping to get the full gen on them to get my facts straight before I put them on Scalemates.

Thanks gamevender, yes the chap on the right appears to be boarding. from the attire I'd say late war to mid 50's, he appears to have a mae west and leather flying helmet. The other chap also has mae west and small cliboard/book - form 700? and a significant 'tache!

Hi Mark, thanks for the confirmation of the New Hope Design sets. Do you have any info on the Scale Model Accessories figures?

Cheers
