Hi
Thi is my entry for this group build, a TBF/TBM Avenger in 48th scale from Italeri (rebox of the beautiful Accurate Miniature's kit)

I have not already decided the livery and the version
My first intention was to build an early version with the use of the rare KMC update set, (It would be great for me to build the only survivor of the battle for Midway) but I also own some good Techmod decals that I'd like to use (don't worry , i have another box)

As I said in the chat, I have 33 eligible models (34 if i count the Raven) so I can not give up this group build

Thank You

It will be a FAA Tarpon MkI (former a Grumman built TBF-1)

while I painted interiors I thought of painting in parallel also the US Navy version (another kit)

Hi

This thread

Maybe of use, note the difference in internal and external paint between Grumman and Eastern built planes, this post in particular is very comprehensive

Quote

Tarpon (Avenger) I: Grumman built

401 TBF-1B (export version of TBF-1) and TBF-1C serialled FN750 to FN949, JZ100 to JZ300. Not clear when switch to TBF-1C occurred. Not until at least after FN908

From this all JZ*** Tarpon are TBF-1C models,  which is what the AM kit is OOB, though you need to add the FAA cockpit modifications.   The KMC set is to make a TBF-1, with the nose gun

Access door without circular window , oval window on the fuselage

Bronze green for the cockpit
