Coming along nicely! I see you dug out those holes in the read and side of the step. Nice touch, as they're quite prominent on the prototype.

Thank you :)

I think (at least those from sides) are visible not only on prototype but of each one photo. The Sword kit has this part (step) done in resin with all those details, but I preferred to drill intead of cutting out step and replacing it with resin element...

Intermediate blue on Goose:

I mixed here Humbrol 144 with 89 and a bit of 34 . Pure 144 is too gray for me as any blue...

And two more tkes of Goose:

Will see form  the start what are you going to build here to understand better what are your goal.

Hi,

Gosling or rather Widgeon is really close to finish:

32432794098_cf4cb9fdfb_b.jpg

46254637482_a277237c46_b.jpg

This is V212 of Coast Guard in scheme on summer 1942, just after she was credited (not correctly as was found recently) with sunk of U-166. Therefore above the emblem of USCG an vicory mark is presented . I have to add depth charge, landing and navi light and some (not a lot indeed) dirt/exploitation. The photos show them very clean.

Goose with main u/c

And some progress with J2F5 conversion from J2F6

46254636232_92760d5957_b.jpg

the engine is not glues yet, just on posotion without glue

Hi

The Widgeon V212 has serian number 1260. History can be found in table here http://www.goodall.com.au/grumman-amphibians/grummanwidgeon.pdf

What is a small inscription on fin:

Coast%20Guard%20Grumman%20J4F%20Widgeon%

Coast%20Guard%20Grumman%20J4F%20Widgeon%

I cannot read it. Any suggestion will be appreciated. The second row is maybe JR4F1. But first? "Coast Guard"??? MAybe I'll skip it...

The Widgeon (Gosling) is finished. Today there was not light at all to make photos at daylight. I am waiting with giving to gallery for daylight photos. Below are takes with flash:

32457226798_269fd92862_b.jpg

please note the single depth charge (scratch build following the Attack Squadron ones)

45605965174_e692b085ff_b.jpg

I see now some place to correct painting work from bottom :(

Goose is also almost ready:

I glued lower wings and tailplane in Duck. I painted the front of fuselage and float fairing, which I scratch converted to vie of J2F5 style. I think it does require only small work now

I have to print those small numbers for Goose tail. Widgeon went to GB gallery and I will post her in RFI with bigger set of photos.

Menwhile i made some progress with Duck. I drilled all openinigs for riging an glued on position the upper wing. By the way - to match drawings I have to shorter main (caban) struts, this vertical one fo almost 2 mm! The side struts are of OK lenght.

Hi,

The Goose is finished. I designed (Arial bold) and printed the small numbers (the same as in 1/48 are for Aerscale decals set).

I will wait with GB Gallery for daylight takes, those below are with flash:

46358901781_8220f56dd3_b.jpg

46358902391_4ed4d3a8f5_b.jpg

46358903151_21a132fa9f_b.jpg

The Duck has engine

32487045468_082f1c582b_b.jpg

32487045028_699fdab5bc_b.jpg

As you see I cut out the opening for air intake on end of cowling - what is characteristic for J2F5

To be cont.

Duck was so nicely painted and I made wethering... Heavy weathering of tropical weather, salty water, sand and sun...

32565397028_e030954c41_b.jpg

32565396678_12a71e0529_b.jpg

The weathering is done with two lighter shades of blue and with ~zinc chromate (Humbrol 24+31) and few places also silver. On prop I will do some more silver dot\\

32565395888_dbfbd7c546_b.jpg

32565396188_723c4fce86_b.jpg

46386902302_651399ebd2_b.jpg

Weathering is done by dry brush technique with two lighter shades of blue-gray and one darker (more grey) and ~zinc chromate (Humbrol 24+31).

The decals are of different origin (I will try tomorrow make it softer with micro set/micro sol). National insignias are from Aeromaster set for Wildcat

AMD72005-2.jpg

The numbers "11" are from drawer (?), small "j2F-5" ar home printed, the same the Turtle emblem of VC-11, navy with number (not readible - hopfuly since I do not know the proper number) is from Airfix set.

The emblem of VS-64 {edited} is printed on ink jet, but have to be applied on white circle, since to colours are too transparent. This is whta I printed reduced to height of 4 mm

45714679634_fc62f6929d_b.jpg

BTW - Studied recently photos of Duck I noticed that despite repeated info that J2F5 had removed forwar firing MG apparently the gun existed, since the gun sight existed. I have to add it - and it is interesting, becuse it is on one side becuase stright forwardbefore cockpit there is the air intake!

Here it is seen:

43477285615_ba4995d8be.jpg&key=370479d88

Here is almost not seen because it is on right side of fuselage
