Latécoère 631 buddy build - is anyone interested?

Hello,

Yes, I know that a big box with large sheet of plastic is hiding somewhere deep inside your vaults. Shame that you have never been brave enough to get it started, it is too big, too challenging and you think "well, I will wait for a little longer, the time is not right yet to to roll up the sleeves" and this time never comes.

Good news, the time may be right now, are you interested in buddy build? There is a guy on friendly forum who would join so there are already two of us, are you ready to be the third?

Let's do that, what do you think?

I wish I had one of these kits, I’ve been trying to find one for years but when they crop up on ebay they go for enormous amounts of money.

Good luck with your build, I look forward to seeing it go together.

cheer,

Stuart

..rather you than me!  and what a diabolical machine, ten built, half of them lost in crashes, over 100 passengers died. On 01 November 1945 off Montevideo at 330 km/h an inboard prop sheared off the "Lionel de Marnier" F-BDRC tearing a huge hole in the fuselage, killing one passenger instantly and amputating the legs of another, who later died of his injuries. The aircraft put down safely despite losing another two props! 57m wingspan, the largest aircraft conceived and constructed by our French cousins..

 "Lionel de Marnier" F-BDRC

That particular one was doubly cursed and finished off the 631's career in a seemingly appropriate manner

are you ready to be the third?

If I had one I'd be tempted.... for a moment anyway..........!!

That was F-BANT

https://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19451031-1

F-BDRC disappeared over the Atlantic

http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19480801-1

There is some confusion in boat naming as

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latécoère_631

says that F-BANT was bearing "Lionel de Marmier" name whereas F-BDRC was "Henri Guillaumet", that is confirmed by

so either Aviation Safety record is wrong, or F-BDRC was renamed at some point, that seems highly unlikely.
