Cheers, Mark. Hi Mark Tamiya XF54 which is fs36231 dark gull grey. I will use this as this was the indicated underside colour on another Pasific based aircraft.
neil5208
Sorted the wing and engine gaps and started the pre-shade process, think that will take a few sessions. Picked up a suitable stable mate in the form of Hasegawa's KI61 Tony but won't be starting that one soon. neil5208
Pre-shading is complete! Never done this on such a large scale before so curious how it will turn out. Next sand/tan colour. neil5208
First coat of light sand is on, it will need a second as the pre-shading is showing through to much. Ol' Scrapiron
That Hawaiian scheme is going to look super on your Fortress -- so colorful. I'm looking forward to seeing it with the other colors applied.
neil5208
Decided to go for the green and for go a second coat of sand, been looking at the available images of the Haywain Depot B17 and the camo is different on each aircraft and there is no one aircraft pictured from all angles to work of so this will be best interpretation/looks close effort. neil5208
Brown is on and the masks are off, this is a colourful aircraft so glad I went for an unusual scheme. She back in the airing cupboard for now, I have one touch up to do on one of the horizontal stabilizer's where I spilt thinners and then I will mask off and spray the underside. vppelt68
Something keeps saying to me "it's Israeli" when I look at those colours. Lovely scheme and well done! V-P

I did look at the Israeli quartette but I have a Beaufighther that will in IAF markings on next years build list.
MarkSH
Now that is really nice, a great scheme and so different for a Fortress!👍
neil5208
Coat of Future floor polish on and decals done, judging from available pictures the Hawaiian Air Depot aircraft had all of the stencils painted over in the rush to get camouflage applied. Need to make a mask up for "old maid" and spray that on although if its on both sides of the aircraft is not 100% confirmed. modelling minion
A great job on a fascinating colour scheme Neil, the Hawaiian Air Depot scheme is really nice and you have done a great job of recreating it.
neil5208
Sprayed "old maid" on today, not 100% sure but its on. IMGA0634 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0635 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0636 by neil Connor, on Flickr I intend to replace the tail code as that was made using 2 decals but the 09 is slightly smaller than 124.

neil5208
This evening's update is thus. Undercarriage is complete, rear horizontal tailplane paint redone and clear coat is on! I did start a panel wash on the underside but wasn't happy how it was coming out so not done the top side. IMGA0646 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0647 by neil Connor, on Flickr I think the clear coat has dulled the bright colours down perfectly. Some gun barrels to fit (x4), waist guns, touch up forward gun barrels and remove masking and its done.
