The Spadgent
Good evening guys. more steady progress on the cat. with the masking done I got to spray the blue. looks like it’s going on well. A few more coats and I’m a happy bunny. Wings are looking good. Here I sprayed some lighter sections to the center panels. The detail on this little kit is just great. I dropped the bloomin’ thing and scratched the cowl . 😖 easy fix though. 😃 The canopy and aerial got painted. Masking off time! All seemed to have gone well. Happy with that! 😇 gloss coat time. ooooh smooooth. Oh I did the wheels too. Right that’s about it for that update. I’ll leave you with this. looking forward to decals and weathering. Thanks for dropping by on this rainy Tuesday night. Great to see you. Take care and as always. Happy Modelling. Johnny WildCat. 🐈

VT Red Sox Fan
Spadgent--Awesome! My lack of emoji prowess limits my ability to communicate how much I am enjoying this build 😜 Seriously, this Wildcat is turning out fantastic--really appreciate the time you took to capture the fine steps of your airbrush work--nice touch! Matt_
Looking great. It's definitely quick. At least that's what I'm going for. Gloss coat on means you've just overtaken my progress on your second build since the Lancaster - and I'm still on the first. 🐢
Tempestwulf
At least you didn't pop the cowl or bits off when you dropped it. I have a bad habit of scratching the tip of something on the desk or cutting mat, holding it to close to that. Alternatively the corner of my nail when they get long and I forget to trim them...that's a dumb one honestly xD

The Spadgent
Well THAT! Was a weekend that saw me nowhere near the bench. luckily I had a small journey to the grotto earlier in the week. 😃 It was decals next. they are really good too although I don’t know if this is a new Airfix thing but micro sol didn’t touch em. also this bit if you are planning on making this kit will need to be cut to fit. It’s the only bit of this that is a little bobbins. So with a cut and a slice we get something that might fit. It’s not perfect and it’ll need touching up but it’s the best it’s going to get. as I said micro sol didn’t touch the decals so out came the Daco Strong. This nailed em on. The canopy fits sooo well. I’ll leave it till after weathering. look at that! and if, IF. I pull my socks up and get this finished I’m looking at this for a Christmas project. 🎅 🎄 oooh! Thanksfpr popping by. Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend. Happy Modelling lads and lasses. Johnny. 😽

BikingLampy
A question for the cognoscenti here. I've just started building the Martlet version of this kit. There's quite an area between the top of the instrument panel and the windshield (scuttle?). How should this be painted? Could be exterior colour (EDSG in my case), could be interior green, could be boring black (which would make sense for low reflectivity)? Googling suggests models get built roughly 50/50 interior green (which looks a bit weird) or exterior colour (which looks 'right', but that's not necessarily 'correct'). Not found any good shots of the real thing (Wildcat or Martlet) but the impression I get is certainly closer to black than interior green. Thoughts...? Cheers, BL

Cheers, BL Well I had planned on leaving it blue, the paint instructions offer no help. I looked back to the summer when I visited the fleet air arm, there was a martlet. Zooming in it looks black to me so I think I’ll brush that before the canopy goes on. good spot that man. 😉 11 hours ago, Matt_ said: Ooh. The Helix. 🚁 Nice. Ex-FAAWAFU
The FAA Museum Martlet is an interesting beast; a Martlet I (the only surviving F4F-4) ordered by the French and diverted to Englnd with the fall of France in 1940. But they did some serious research in restoring it to its present state (a bit like their awesome Corsair), so if they reckon that area was black, I think you are pretty safe. 1
