Of course it’s looking good, it’s a DBR1 for heaven’s sake! 😡 Don’t go telling him he’s doing a good job - who knows where that’ll end up! 😨
Matt_
He is doing a good job though. Probably the best wooden scratch WIP at the moment, wouldn't you say? 1

stevehnz
Starting to look just like the real thing. As I read about it 50 odd years ago. Steve.
Redshift
That may have been the book I remember, or it may have been "the green helmet" by jon cleary. Memory aint what it used to be...
Redshift
Well, the past two weeks have mostly been spent waiting for danish oil to dry. Nearly there now, just need to carve and colour the dashboard, get some clear plastic to stay windshield shaped long enough for the glue to set, and I need to remember where I left the steering wheel.

albergman
Just got home from a 2 week vacation and find you're nearly done and it's looking terrific!! Hope you enjoyed the process and maybe try another?? If you ever want to try another carving, one which you prefer to paint rather than natural finish, may I suggest you look into using some composite decking that's available everywhere. I used some leftover cuttings from a neighbour's deck project to build a boat model and it's very easy to work with. Nicer than wood in that there's no grain to deal with and it shapes easily and takes detailing well. Best of all most of the manufacturers will send you a sampler kit with enough pieces to glue up for a decent sized model. Congrats once again.
