Airfix Buccaneer FAA

Recommended Posts

All done.  Used a Neomega cockpit, SAC undercarriage (probably not worth it), some elements of the Flightpath set (there is a LOT there) & Three Guys decals for an 800 NAS machine from HMS Eagle.  May have got the antenna set-up wrong for the period but what the heck.  The basic kit might be considered a nightmare but well worth persevering with it, especially if using the various enhancements available; I genuinely enjoyed the build despite all the work to get the fuselage together!

Very nice result if not the right service ( ducks as all the ex RN on here throws insults!) It's even better as I have first hand experience with this kit. I'm struggling my way through at the moment. Have finally sanded and filled to an acceptable standard, time for paint finally. So hats off to you and your moddelling skills 👌

Beautiful Buccaneer! As Simon says, wrong service though! 😂

Seriously, she's stunning. My build isn't too far behind yours so I can appreciate how much work you've done on this one, no join lines anywhere!

I think I've done my tailplane upside down, your little hinges are on the underside aren't they. 😕 I wouldn't mind as much but initially I had it the same as yours, then looked at too many distant photos of slightly blurred Buccaneers and decided it was the other way up! Oh well.

Anyway, good work, she looks amazing.

Don't you listen to those heathens above.

Proper Buccaneer S2s only came in 2 colour schemes: EDSG and White or EDSG

Wot he said, I've one in stock to be done as one of Eagles Air group from 1971 when she visited Wellington & I visited her. Your build will be great inspiration.

Very nice.  I don't know about you but I find a tricky build to be more satisfying.  If I can get things to fit when they're a bit off out of the mould, I get a big sense of achievement.   (Let's face it, if I can get any pair of fuze halves to go together without a massive step, I'm delighted!)  On the other hand, it's always nice when one simply falls together!

Hello Graham,

Build it before you. So I know all about the Airfix model.

You did a tremendous job. A clean and lean fighting machine.

Regards, Orion / The Netherlands.

As mentioned above, great build of a challenging kit. I did an RAF Germany one from the Fighter Pilot series. Right service in proper colours, after all we say nowadays grey jets are boring🤔.
