As it was originally issued by Heller in 1983 under the Bobcat label, yes it is.

You wanna join?  It would be great to have a tractor in the GB!  Got any like minded mates who want to join us?

For anyone else wondering what's eligible, the cut off point is that the kit must be from an original Heller mould that was originally released by Heller before 1st Jan 1986, Heller kits appeared in boxes by the following manufacturers (to name but a few):

Airfix

Aroura

AZ

Blue Ribbon

Bobcat

B.U.M

Buzco

Crovetto

Encore

Frog

Gunz

Hasegawa

Humbrol

Imai

Inplast

Italeri

Kikoler

KP

Lodela

Lyra

Meccano-Triang

MPM

Nagano

Ogoniek

Revell

Roskopf

SMER

Tasman

Testors

Tsukuda

Union

Hughes-Crovetto is the maker of Heller kits in Argentina (bought some of the moulds) The brand name is Modelex.

Most of the swedish aircraft kits are now produced in Argentina.

Cheers, Moggy (patron saint of obsolete kits)

Thanks - I'm looking forward to it. My first group build.

The thing with groupbuilds is that they're like a black hole.  Once you are within the event horizon, you can never get out!

But then, why would you want to???  :D

:welcome:

Turns out the Airfix De Havilland Dragon Rapide that I have in the stash is a reboxing of a Heller moulding. Decisions, decisions.

I would think so, Im planning on two myself. A SCW Bf.109B or D and a Curtiss Hawk 75.

We’ll it might just have to be a double header then.

Is the WRONG answer!   Which you know very well!  :bleh:

I just found a boxtop image for Heller-Modelex:

Which is the Heller box-art transposed to a new box

Earlier boxes had the "Heller black box" look

Are you sure that Modelex logo isn't just a sticker over the original Heller logo?

I had heard they'd gone in that direction, wasn't sure whether it was Argentina or Mexico.

For those of you still wavering about whether you want to join this GB or not, take a look at @Vinnie build of the Heller 1/72nd SAAB J-21, a great result from a classic Heller kit.

Come and join the multitude, you'll enjoy it!

The rules are simple, any original Heller mould originally released before 1 Jan 1986, any subject, any scale, any manufacturer, any re-release, aftermarket allowed.  Other manufacturer's kits in Heller boxes are not eligible though.

Therefore, the only question is: simultaneous, or consecutive?

That is entirely up to you.

You have just encountered what is known as WWEMD (What Would Enzo Matrix Do).

If a modeller is in a quandary as to which of a selection of models to build, @Enzo Matrix will always respond "Build them all!"

A wise person (or more correctly, someone who has suffered encountered this before), will learn to keep their mouth shut not give him the chance to say it.

Following in the wake of the Matchbox, Airfix Golden Years and 2019's Frog GB's does anyone fancy joining a Heller classic GB?

To me the golden years of Heller are those from the mid-1970's until the mid-1980's when the hook-up with Humbrol went sour, so I propose anything from Heller prior to the Humbrol years is admissible for this GB.

This means any original Heller mould originally released by Heller up until 31st December 1985, it doesn't have to be in a Heller box, Heller kits have been released by many other manufacturers - Airfix, Buzzco, Encore, KP, Lodela, Revell and SMER to name but a few, but another manufacturer's kit in a Heller box would be ineligible (Heller released some Airfix kits in their boxes).

What do you say?  Anyone else up for this?

83...  ???

Hello Wez,

If there is still some place in here, I would be very "content" to participate.

I got a few Heller in my stash: Leo451, Hawker Hurricane mk.II, Les Mureaux 117 and many more in boxes waiting for me in France.

This will be my first GB. So please don't hesitate to guid me through.

Cheers,

Antoine

Antoine,

Welcome along, you're not too late to the party and there is plenty of room for more, you're number 83 which is the year I joined the RAF and met the Wonderful Mrs Wez so it's a very auspicious number for me.  Congratulations!!

A brief run down of the rules is in the attached.  Welcome to GBs, there's no turning back.

Of your choices, they're all great BTW, but I'd love to see the Leo451, if you've got the Les Mureaux left over you may want to consider the proposed French Fancy 2 GB for next year?

Hi Wez,

I'm glad to be number 83 😃. This is also the (probable) year I started serious modeling.

The LeO will be probably the chosen one.

Thank you for the French Fancy 2 tip. Will probably join as well. But let move a baby step after another.

Cheers,

Antoine

Great, thanks for signing up, I'm sure you'll find something suitable.  I've added your name to the list, you're number 84!

Anyone else interested in this one?

Any original Heller mould that was first released by Heller before 1 Jan 1986 is eligible, doesn't matter if it's a subsequent re-release or released in somebody else's box.
