the South African
Hello all.Today I have finished the rigging completely and I must say that I am thankful that it is now done as it was a VERY involved process to say the least(it is my first time making turnbuckles etc for this small of a scale) There is still a lot of small parts to be glued some filling repainting and sanding to be done then hopefully by the end of the weekend it will be on to decals and finishing. I apologize for the poor photo quality but then again I AM THE WORLD'S WORST PHOTOGRAPHER. As always all comments and critique is welcomed and thank you for taking the time to look. the South African
Morning all.Well no pics along with this simply because whilst sitting around here enjoying a Corona I am waiting for the gloss coat to dry in preparation for decals.Under normal circumstances I would have painted the markings bar numbers etc but because of the accident the model had and the looming deadline I will follow the decal route on this one. The gloss should be dry enough by tonight to apply the said decals and then follows a very constrained wheathering process and the last of the detail painting. Will share pics as soon as there is something to report on. Regards: Shaun

Kind regards, Stix Thank you for the kind words and encouragement Stix. The decals turned out to perform exactly as advertised:Yes they sucked BIG TIME!!I however pushed through and managed to get the job done with some repairs to said HORRIBLE decals luckily no silvering is to be seen with all of this said I must admit that I am rather proud of myself as usually I would just have placed the whole job on the shelve of shame. The Misfit is now almost complete shy of just some dull cote and then on to the gallery of completed projects(a welcome change of pace for yours truly). As always thank you for looking and as always critique and comments is welcomed. Well on to the proof of life for today's work then. Regards: Shaun Gloss cote applied and rigging painted and fared in. Prop on and a bit of smearing done on the cowl Radiator dirtied up. wings bleached and blended some grease marks behind the "turnbuckles". Ventora3300
Congratulations on many fronts, Shaun, a wonderfully finished model, masses of detail, saved from disaster and finished in time. I love this one. Have a Corona on me (I'll owe you one). I may have missed it but did you mention what your decal 'scheme' was? This is one to put in full view on the sideboard - no dusting allowed! Well done, mate. All the best. Mike
the South African
Thank you ever so much for the kind words Mike I might dust off a corona in the afternoon mate. The scheme I went for was No2 on the box A no14 sqn kite flown by Lt E.E Turner and with H.B Barwise as observer shot down a Gotha G.V on the night of the 19/20 May 1918. The reason I chose a two seater bird is that I thought of how much trust a gunner had to have had in his pilot as afterall this was a dangerous business still in its infancy and additionally the gothas was extremely heavily armed and it was like a death-wish trying to attack one as you basically flew into a hail of hot lead and tracer. Come to think of it I still have a gotha in the stash pity it is 72nd it would have made for a nice compannion to the bristol. This gets me wondering who does a decent 72nd brisfit.......
