Deep in the Frying Pancific Ocean, USS Eggerprise is patrolling, when it picks up bogeys on the radar. “150 miles my bottom, Launch the Alert 5” yells the Officer of the Watch.

Sorry, Omletting the pics do the talking,

My first completed entry for the GB is Airfix's Lunar Module first released in 1970, I used the 40th Anniversary boxing of the kit. My build depicts Grumman built Lunar Module Apollo 11's LM-5 'Eagle' on July 20th, 1969, at 20:17 UTC just prior to the historic first moon landing at the Sea of Tranquility (Mare Tranquillitatis) and the establishing of Tranquility Base where Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on another planetary body a little over six hours later.

The build thread can be found here:

Really enjoyed building an old favourite and depicting a surprisingly lesser known Grumman product. Thanks again to the hosts for an enjoyable GB.

Cheers, Mark.

Hi Chaps

Here is my rendition of 210 from VF2 on the USS Enterprise in 1976, 1/48 scale using Tamiya's excellent F-14A kit.

Easily the best kit I have ever built, it builds beautifully into an excellent model.

Grumman Widgeon, Pavla (1/72) in colours of US Coast Guard in summer 1942. This paricular V-212 was credited sunking of  U-166 in end of July 1942, recently it turned out that this victory was not the truth. This machine attacked some other U-boat which finally was sunk by some patrol vessel.

Here is the Grumman XF5F-1 Skyrocket. Without question, the ugliest aircraft Grumman ever built. Truly a study in form follows function. But, beauty did come out of this, as the F7F Tigercat was a direct descendant.

Grumman Martlet MkII, Academy F4F-A, finished as an aircraft from 881 Squadron from HMS Illustrious during Operation Ironclad, the invasion of Madagascar in 1942. A little bit of conversion work needed on the cowling but otherwise pretty much OOB

Here is my contribution to this build.  Special Hobby's 1.72nd scale Grumman FF-1, aka, 'Fifi', but as flown by the Spanish Republicans against the Fascists it was the G-23 'Delphine'.  All but obsolete by the time it went up against the CR-32 and the He-51, it served as well it could.  This one, 33, flew with the @a Escuadrilla, Grupo 28.  The pilot was Jesus Rodriguez Rodriguez and the rear gunner was Demetrio Luis Manzanares.  It was July 1938.  During the battle of Ebro it was hit by ack-ack fire and crashed but the crew escaped the crash and were captured later.  The Nationalists displayed the aircraft as a trophy of war.

All paints were Vallego and Vallejo Air.  Rigging is monofilament and a bit of sprue with EZLine for the radio wires (and I have just realized I have not attached the stabilizers struts. Oops... I do that pronto...)  It was a good little kit with very few issues to worry about.  I actually have the Special Hobby FF-1 which I might get to eventually.  I am left with a really good sheet of unused decals, with Republican and Nationalist.
