My backdated Airfix B17 is done enough for the Gallery now. Here it is, in all it's completely inauthentic glory!

An eighties Airfix kit, bought with no clear parts from ebay. It's been finished in the style of a wartime wooden model, as seen on the box top of my original 1940's Testors paint set. Most of the original Airfix moulding disappeared under quite a bit of filler to get the early look I was after. I'm happy with the result.

The build is detailed here:

And here's a few pictures...

My entry, B17E "old Maid" one of the B17 based at Hawaii just after the attack of Pearl Harbour. The colour scheme was applied at the Hawaiian Air Depot as the aircraft arrived at Hinkley field as it was being attacked by the Japanese.

I am proud to add my 1/48 B-17 to such a great group of Flying Fortress builds in this Gallery. I would say stumbling onto this STGB changed model building for me, and I'm so glad to finally build a tribute to granddad, his crew and the 447th BG.

From the long stalled WIP

"finished" out of the box - let's just not look too hard for stencils or for any pictures of details or the other side. No weathering or finishing touches as it was a crash project to get it in under the wire

Delighted to be able to join such esteemed completed builds.

This was a scrap kit bought as part of a job lot on Evilbay sometime ago for pennies, decals kindly donated by Craig aka @modelling minion.

The aircraft is a B-17C Flying Fortress Mk1 with RAF Coastal Command, servings in Nuts Corner, Northern Ireland 1942.

'Never fear, Hettie's here!'

Didn't think I would make the Gallery, lack of modelling mojo at the moment.

Academy's B-17E built as an early F to make a B-17 GRIIa FA699 of 251 (MET) Squadron, Reykjavik, Iceland, 44/45.

Apart from the tailwheel collapsing during photography everything went OK!

Lassie and her Lads is as done as I can get it for the moment. The last week of the build has seen me unavoidably away from my bench. So near, yet so far! Just the tail transparency, prop decals and a gun barrel here and there would have finished it properly. The planned base and additional vehicles also missed the finish line. I'll add finished pictures to the build thread

Many thanks to the organisers of the build, it was a joy to take part.

An added huge thank you for letting me add the 99.99% done Lassie to the finished models.
