Grumman Martlet MK 4 Airfix 1/72 pick me up.

Recommended Posts

Looking nice Simon. I don't know, why you think  the undercarriage wouldn't be visible that much. I think it does on that,  so good to see you treated it well. I once bought a Tamiya one for a low budget on a flew market (2 € or so )  which was started on the interieur and I thought about that then. Some little parts were missing,  I guess and it still stays in the attic since that around about for 15 years till now. Cheers

Well folks, I didn`t get them done last night but...

Update.

I did today, almost.

GMD 4

Some reacted well to the setting solution (Revell`s).

GMD 5

Only 4 on the underside.

GMD 6

Including these little buggers.

GMD 7

And these on the wheels, just done.

GMD 8

That just leaves the prop to do later, I have just painted the tips so once dry that will be done.

All comments welcome.

Thanks @giemme, @CedB, and @The Baron, I am trying my best, and for once I got all the decal;s on, even in the right places too!!

Sorry for a slow reply , but I ended up in hospital for a couple of nights.

Picked up some bug which had me glued to the toilet seat for 24 hrs, I could not trust a f***.

But anyhow, I am out again and done a bit more.

Gloss varnish over the decals, I used Tamiya X 22 this time.

GMD 9

GMD 10

Then after drying the "black wash" attack.

BW 1

Starboard wing done here to show comparison.

BW 2

Uppers done.

BW 3

Lowers done.

BW 4

And a bit of dirt around the exhaust for now.

I am going to let that lot dry for a while before a little more messing .

Time for tea soon.

All comments welcome.

Simon. (Hungry one).

Good to hear your feeling better than you were!

Decals look great, and a really impressive finish on the paint.

How much weathering are you thinking of doing?

Thanks @giemme, @Courageous, and @Bugle07.

I have decided to limit the weathering to just that wash as I did not want to spoil anything.

Update.

Flat varnish applied top and bottom.

GMF 1

GMF 2

Also the main U/C doors, which went on quite easily.

But when I unmasked the windscreen.....

GMF 3

OH Bum, never mind.

Just the wheels, prop, aerial and pitot to add and she will be ready for RFI.

Simon.

Looking very nice Simon, nearly at finish line.

Besides the obvious gremlin that got to your glazing, an observation if I may. You have weathered your model, but did you weather the undercarriage doors as they look rather clean...:coat:.

Well spotted Stuart, I still have the pitot to paint as well, but I will give a dusting of weathering on the doors.
