Camouflaged Lanchester

Recommended Posts

Nice job.  You need to keep your wheels in the mud, not up in the air!  A boring grey RNAS car would have kept an aircraft connection.  It's a shame that Solomon J Solomon didn't turn his artistic talents to armoured cars, but I guess he was working a couple of years later on tanks.

This is the Copper State Models kit, yes?  It doesn't have the right features to be the Armo resin one, which was configured as the Russian version.  I have one of these CSM kits in my stash and the Belgian camo is decidedly tempting, compared to grey, grey, grey or green at a stretch for a British one.  I'm just mulling over whether to get the optional etch set for it.  Based on this kit, CSM should certainly consider releasing more WW1 ground subjects.

Just one point, and a common mistake.  Vehicle - and aircraft - pneumatic tyres of that early war era were not black.  They were a mid grey.  While carbon black had been introduced into some tyres in the USA before WW1 - as a strengthener rather than a colouring - it didn't become commonplace on this side of the Atlantic until probably 1916 once it became obvious that harder-wearing tyres were needed for the burgeoning use of motor transport.

Hi,

Yes its the 1/35 CSM kit. The kit is lovely, nothing wrong with it, builds up well, no fit issues to speak off. Shows CSM can most certainly produce a nice kit.

I did have a think about the etch addition, but decided that the provided plastic was good enough. I do know the story about the grey rubber, I just don't like the color, so took some artistic license here. Lets say this is an end of war Lanchester.....LOL
