Queen Elizabeth. But not the carrier, a large scale figure of the current monarch!

In a bid to stem the tsunami of anticipation you have so irresponsibly unleashed, I should point out that Simon Owen recently said that Airfix have no plans to reissue the 1/12 Boy Scout kit.  I think we may take that as a pointer.

What!!! 😧 I'm not playing anymore then. They could at least stick it out there with Anne Boleyn as a Dogfight Double.

It's all very well this speculation regarding Telford but what about tomorrow?

They have only announced one kit this year ( I think ) and the Telford one is two so surely there is at least one more

Buccaneer tomorrow!!!

1/24

Hawk, Jaguar or Tonka. Simply because they haven’t been done in this scale (to my limited knowledge)

1/48

Lancaster, B-17, B-29 simply because the last iterations of these subjects at this scale are older than I am or HS 748 and RAF Rescue Launch just for kicks!

1/72

Viscount, Trident, Vulcan just because... you know!

1/144

Trafalgar or Vanguard Class submarine - just because it would be cool.

1/350

HMS Queen Elizabeth (Aircraft Carrier), HMS Ark Royal (R09) or Minsk/Kiev Aircraft Carrier.

Pretty sure these would fit the Big Kit description

I think 20 pages of speculation goes to show that (grumblage aside wrong scale/subject/star sign etc etc) how interested everyone actually IS about the new release - which goes to show how much affection there remains for Airfix - not seen a 20 page thread on Revell or Eduard speculation....

I think its rather heartwarming actually - and jolly good fun despite the naysayers. If the Fairey Fruitbat or Scroggs Wunderplane aren't produced well shucks. I'm really glad there's still an Airfix around to make an announcement at Telford - it was such a shame last year when they didnt. Its like a mini Christmas!

As for the comments that they wouldnt do anything 'left field' - theres no way I'd have put money on them doing a 1/48 Walrus or Defiant ten years ago, never mind a chuffing Whitley or Shackleton (nor for that matter that the Shack would have competition!).

If Big is 1/72 am sure it will be a Vulcan, if Big is 1/48 it would be amazing to see a Lanc (and bearing in mind the 2X 1/32 releases it would be SUCH typical Airfix timing to release one NOW!) in 1/24 the Gladiator is an excellent shout but I go back to the Historic Aircraft Collection hookup.....co-incidence....or a 1/24 Hawker FURY? which put simply is aerial pornography.

One other thought, but I dont know how well they sold, potentially a Luftwaffe resupply set? They've done a RAF one and a USAAF one, both of which were boxed with a bomber so pechance posters are right and a JU88 is a-coming with some erks to maintain it.

An Anson XIX -  C.21 might be a nice shout too....not exactly much competition out there bar the old Aeroclub one....

TT

Can't remember anything much, recently, that was exciting from either Revell or Italieri.  If you want to have them notice, write in German or Italian.

The brand new Beau, which apparently, for once, they DIDN'T mess up like they did with the 32nd and 72nd Spits ? My prediction is Revell will be moving even more into British subjects as this caters for likely the largest market in Europe, with a still - compared to Germany - quite healthy base of brick & mortar or concrete points of sale.

There's a much better alternative but as it's in very poor taste I won't post it...

Already there with you on that one, but as you said, may not go down too well!

I think the German market may be bigger for companies in the Airfix/Revell/Heller/Italeri sector of the market. Every town has a "Müller" carrying a decent range of mostly (90%) Revell kits and accessories. The chain is something of a cross between the old Woolworths, WHS and Boots, selling cosmetics, music, computer games, toys and stationery.

Müller really has a good presence in the South, AFAIK. And it will share the fate of any product line if it falls short of expectations in sales. The big department stores that once were found in every town of midsize upwards have closed down many of the smaller stores and either unlisted kits altogether or drastically reduced the shelf space allocated. Which essentially leaves the remaining toy and few model shops, the latter of which have all but vanished in the Northern half. But anyway, I‘m looking forward to the 48th Wellington being announced in two weeks, plus a family of Venoms in both 48th and 72nd.

OK, here goes

Gannet AEW3

Westland Whirlwind Helicopter

Blackburn Firebrand (no chance)

Short Sturgeon ( even less chance)

DeHavilland Sea Venom

DeHavilland Sea Hornet NF21 (To obliterate the Trumpeter version)

Westland Sea King

All 1/48

A 1/24 Sea Fury would still be gratefully received

We have a saying from this neck of the woods;-

"You only live in Hope* if you live in Derbyshire!*😆😆

*Hope (Def) - a small town in the Peak District,  which sits in the Hope Valley - a small but pleasant region- this is where modellers dreams go, and then remain indefinitely.😂😂

Throw in a couple of Corgis & bingo....dogfight double

or how about a diorama in 1/35th of Buck House's balcony with all the Royals on it, maybe even a motorised royal wave?

edit:- I've now become Luke warm to original want of a 24th BP Defiant and would much preferer either of the above

I think all you have to do is read James Hamilton-Paterson's Empire of the Clouds.

Airfix have kitted just about every aircraft in that.

Swift, Javelin, Lightning, DH110 (Sea Vixen), Hunter, Meteor, Shackleton, Valiant, Victor...

Read the book again, tick off what's there.  What ever is missing will be announced.

A

Now there’s an idea, Airfix simply buy a copy of the Trumpeter catalogue and do accurate versions of everything!

Couldn't agree more. For me, and I'm sure for a few others here, Airfix IS plastic modelling. Always has been and - I hope - always will be.
