Painting Stuka With RLM80 Spots

Hi All,

The next model is going to be the Italeri Ju87B/R in the STG3 RLM79 with RLM80 spots and i wanted to ask as i've never done one like this before, do i weather the RLM79. Looking at pictures i can't see any sun fading on the sand colour,etc as the green spots seem to cover them. Can anyone help with any thoughts on how to do the paintwork realistically,

You may be overthinking things.   I kind of understand what you are asking, as it appears the unit arrived in Derna in November 1941 with just an overall sand finish.  Green spots seems to have been added later, maybe the following March?   So basically it was operating during winter months, and if you look up the monthly temperatures, it's not a blistering hot area even during the summer.

 

If it were me, I'd just give a thin light misting over after all colours are on (including decals).    I would note because of the time frame, the RLM79 should be the initial version that was a bit more yellow in appearance.
