Revell 1/48th Tornado GR1

Recommended Posts

Absolutely stunning mate, exactly how a Tornado should look! Perfect.

I've got the Airfix 1/48 one to build, which I'll be doing from the same era, though maybe 27 sqn. If she's anywhere near this standard I'll be very happy.

How much were the wing sleeves?

oh yeah!

that is what a Tornado model should look like!!

did the GR1s already have the Hindenburger tanks in 89?

but

and I'd like to see some load out!, sorry!

practice bomb dispenser or captive Aim-9 as a minimum ;)

So nice to see a Tornado properly dressed, non of this shades of grey malarkey!

Great work .:goodjob:

I couldn't agree more.

Stunning model of a type that I took for granted, but will miss!

I really like the subtle weathering.

Ditto, but I've grown to love it over the years.

Thanks very much, I look forward to seeing your build in the future. The wing seals came from BM member Shaun, here's a link to his thread:

Thanks very much exdraken,

I'm not to sure about the timescale of the Hindenburger tanks, I just thought they looked good, as for the load out I prefer the clean lines of the aircraft.

Thanks everyone else for your kind comments.

Superb job, well done. I have the Revell IDS, hoping to wring a mid 90's 31 Sqn jet out of it. Also the Revell F3 for an early 90's 111 Sqn jet. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!

That's perfection in my eyes. Absolutely love it! I've been struggling with wraparound camo recently and I've seen some awesome examples on here recently.

How did you achieve your finish? Freehand, blutac, tape?

It's certainly another finish that manages to impress me and depress me in equal measure!

Thanks very much.

I've just started an revell  F3, this time as a desktop model so I can have the wing fully swept and undercarriage up... undecided which scheme to do it in though.

Cheers glad you like it.

I used the blutac method and find it work really well at this scale, giving convincing soft edges to the camo. It is quite time consuming process  and you get through a fair bit of masking tape but ultimately worth it!

Thanks everyone, gazza l
