Vickers Wellesley Mk. I LRDU - Valom 1/72

Looks to me as though those parts are the engine mounts, so the ends should be attached to the inside of the cowling not the cylinders. There's no need for supports from the crankcase to the cylinders!

Initally I thought you weren't far enough up the cylinders with MP15, but even allowing for a little of that, I can now see the arms are too long. Clip the points off?

Steve.

Thanks Steve - nah, binned it! :)

Or make your own out of 5amp fuse wire, wrap some around a suitably sized paint brush handle, cut the resultant 'spring' shape with a sharp blade to give the ring, then superG rolled lengths to form the v shaped supports giving a satisfying cheap alternative.

Box On

Strickers

Thanks Strickers - I've left it off, but good tip :)

What's that you say? Wrong green fella? Oh....

Thanks Johnny, Crisp and Keith - I've calmed down now, so you're all safe :D

Ian

Thanks Ian - that would make sense… the instructions could do with a change then I think :)

I've bitten the bullet and tube-glued the wings on:

While that was drying, I've committed to the engine bits and put the cowling on:

What's this? No posts since Saturday? I blame the leaves… damn things keep falling off the trees.

I did do some sanding and painting over the past two days but, sadly, only on the house. Bad modeller :fuyou_2:

Thanks Keith, Simon, Martian, Roger, Giorgio and Stuart :)

This is why things are delayed:

Masking mojo is low, but I'll force myself to continue… soon :)

autumn

I love having autumn

Leaves, mist, hiding the barbecue in the garage

Trying out one's new winter jacket

Nipping home from the pub and smelling the decaying scent of autumn bonfires

Nipping back to the pub next day then nipping home agai...

Ah heck, I like autumn

So

There's a model?

Don`t rush things Ced, we can wait.

Having your mojo working is the main thing.

Leaves , we are lucky, we live in a 5th floor flat so don`t suffer that problem.

Carry on with the upkeep of Buffer`s Towers, Lady H. will be pleased.

Simon.

Thanks Bill :) I suppose, like other seasons, it is good to welcome the change in nature at this time of the year. If only it wasn't for the leaves…

Peewit do a masking set for this kit. As always, available from the Big H.

Martian 👽

Thanks Martian :) That would be too easy… and I've had some disappointing mask sets recently. But then it is easier. Tough choice…

Autumn, what Autumn? We're still getting temperatures in the mid 20s here, but yes there are lots of leaves, they started dropping more than a month ago due to the lack of water. When I've given the grass a last trim SWMBO will be out with the leaf blower, she enjoys that, and I get to rake up the piles helped by the dogs.

Was that an aeroplane I saw?

Note to self: don't use leaf glue, it apparently has a limited life.

Here in UAE I am not suffering from that problem, thankfully. I'd hate to get a palm frond on the head.....

Having said that, haven't you finished this yet?

Yep. 22°C at the moment and sunny with some cirro stratus clouds. Last Saturday with ca. 30° C and me with shorts/ T-shirt underway here. The weekend of the year with kermess in my my birth place took place. Normally with 5-15°C but never over 20°C as far as I remember! Ok, the traffic broke down in the whole village then, but they made a very good sale, I guess. And yes, falling leaves since end of June also here. Too dry for 9 month. 80% this October. The lake Möhne is now half empty, because they pull out 15 times more than is coming in. Hmmh.

Hello Ced, Take your time to get a full thrust mojo. Otherwise you will do this only half hearted and everyone will see that you did it that way! " Dann sieht's meist Scheisse aus!" Cheers

Thanks Ben :) Crikey, that reservoir looks a bit sad eh? As advised I will take my time as I don't want it turning out like, er, that :D

Masking finished - hooray! But wait, what about the crew? The radio op is in and ensconced:

I just need a candidate for Sqn. Ldr. Kellett. Sadly the standard choice (from the Airfix Defiant et al) won't fit:

Time to paint up some of the spares:

I also have another problem - the main canopy won't fit over the rear:

Time to try some plunge molding do we think?

Plunge molding a sliding canopy, gotta watch this.

The Sqn Ldr Kellett of 303 Squadron fame?

Pavla do a vac-form canopy for the Matchbox kit; could that be useful as a back-up?
