Platz are doing a Kawasaki C-1 in 1/144th. saw it on Facebook a few hours ago along with a 1/72nd Mil 24. Looked like it's the Zvezda kit to me though it could a new one?

Already discontinued on hlj. Anything wrong with the kit? Very high domestic demand?

They are some other shops in Japan...  http://www.aoshima-bk.co.jp/shop/

Sure, there are others, what I tried to say was, it was evaporated in such a small window of time in hlj stocks which surprised me. Hlj is not the sole source of course, but strange nonetheless.
There is no review or building threads that I could find and I wondered if there was a problem with the kit (not likely), or maybe a very small production run (strange) or possibly the domestic demand is so high that it dried the stocks in very short time.

Pre-ordered from HLJ and got mine a couple of weeks ago. In the box it’s one of the best and most detailed 1/144 kits I have ever seen. Wish Aoshima would do the new P-1. Running out of availability seems to be a feature of HLJ. Only source I know that cuts off pre-orders for a lack of stock. Best to preorder early to avoid disappointment. There must be practical limits to how much of each item they can stock. Their range of products is enormous.

Kits are mostly manufactured in fixed production runs these days, few are made continuously. That means when the production run is sold out there aren't anymore to sell unless a second run is made. HLJ may be calling this item discontinued because they can't get anymore stock for the forseeable future. I'd guess that there will either be another run made of this kit or a new boxing with different marking options. Aoshima seems to be issuing a lot of kits with comparatively limited production runs. I've bought all their RN WWII ships issued over the last few years from HMS Hermes on and they all have sold out quickly and been subsequently discontinued on HLJ.

I did not miss it this time. One of the very few 1/144 kits I'm interested, maybe because there not one 1/72. But I'll go anyway, it's a nice airplane.
