1/48 RAF F-4J(UK) Phantom

This is the 1/48 Hasegawa RAF F-4J(UK) Phantom which I entered into the RAF100 GB. In true RAF fashion it never made it in time. None the less I hope you like the finished model. I managed to pick the kit up for an absolute bargain at the Scot Nats and it was a real joy to build. It went together well and has nice detail. I used Hataka Laquer paints for the first time which I would highly recommend. I bolstered the kit with some AM, including; Resin Seats, Decals, Brass Pitots and Colour PE.

Thanks for looking and I welcome any comment or questions you may have!

As you welcome and invite comments, I don’t want to detract from your beautiful build, but for aircraft accuracy: ZE352 (whose cockpit still survives today, and is in private storage at the former RAF Hooton Park) retained her shoulder ECM antenna until she was scrapped in the early 1990s.

You may not have finished it within the GB deadline but the extra time you took has clearly not been wasted. What a fantastic finish on the paintwork you've created :goodjob:

I would have liked to have finished in time, It just wasn't to be though. My build pace has slowed in recent years. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure whether to add them or not, some reference shots of various different airframes had them and others didn't. I was going to add them to my model but the kit part looked slightly off in shape and length, so I decided to leave them out.  The airframe I modelled was just picked it at random. Thanks for sharing the image, very sad to see it in that state!
