matt_w
Evening! This is my first entry in the maritime section & other than a few cars, all I have ever built are 1/72 aircraft. With a 1/350 Illustrious complete with full PE in the stash I needed something to practice some new techniques on, enter the Belfast! 1/600 is far too small for my fat fingers, but I really enjoyed figuring out the build order in order to make painting easier, along with the weathering and building the base. I was surprised with how much detail this little kit had and cant wait to get stuck in on the bigger kits. The base is a bit rough around the edges, but it was just a case of carve out a hole and and see what I could come up with, pretty happy with it for a few hours work! hope you like! Rob 1
Nice to see another build of this classic Airfix kit, and she looks particularly good in that camoflage scheme!
Alpha Delta 210
I would be pretty happy with that too. Love the Walrus!

Thank you! Not sure of its accuracy as the instructions only showed the one side of the ship, so the port side was carried out using a number of various reference images, all seemed to be different! It was only a training exercise to test new techniques but I look forward to working with a bigger scale now! Ive gone back to aircraft for now, but will start a trumpeter type 23 once the tornado is build as a long term background build..
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Great work ... I agree the walrus is a nice touch for scale effect.
Albatros
Looks good and full of action! I like the idea to practice new techniques before moving on to something larger. I follow that same route, after a long break from building. Cut my teeth on a Revell Nimitz 1:720. New to the forum, still working out how and where to upload some pictures. Cheers!

Michael51
Well I think that looks pretty cool, especially with the aircraft overhead. Inspiring work, Michael
matt_w
Thanks all! I wish I put a bit more effort in on the base now! Never mind, its filed away on the shelf as done now!
