JWM
Hi, CASA factory was building under licence early variant of Vickers Vildebeest with Hispano Suiza V-engine (Vickers type 245, whereas Vildebeest Mk I is type 244 and Mk II is type 258 as given in instuction for model by Special Hobby). 25 of them were produced in Getafa (Spain) with exchangeable wheel/float u/c. I build this model with GB "Britts abroad". Model presents machine with serial T-17, blonging to Grupo 72 Defensa de Costas in 1938, based close to Barcelona. I have painted in my interpretation of her scheme, which is know only from this photo. Please note that floats for sure has three colours patterns whereas fiselage rather only two... Therfore I did not agree with interpretation from Molina-Mercado book followed by SH instruction, or Here is my model : I have introduced some changies to kit during build - here is thread from build (this Vickers plus two other machines) Comments welcome Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
John_W
Lovely build of an unusual subject. The camouflage looks like they let Picasso paint it.

pheonix
That Wildebeest looks as though the artist knew about psychodelic art before the 1960's! That must have been a bit of a challenge, but you have done a superb job on it. The SCW collection looks very good too - some very interesting and lesser known types there - and a huge variety. Artie
Nice collection of spanish civil war subjects, Jerzy......Regarding the CASA Vildebeest, you've done an excellent work. It's a weird subject, with a bizarre paint scheme. It's extremely bizarre, even to my standards...!!! If you wish, feel free to send me a PM with your postal address, I've got some 1/72 decal sheets that you may find useful. Best regards... KRK4m
Really huge piece of bird - I didn't realize that Vildebeest (and Vincent of course too) is so big compared to other biplanes - EG DH.89 or Wapiti (here DH.9). I must admit that not only your models look better than 40 years ago, but the photos are also becoming better with each new plane :). Well done, brother ! Cheers Michael
Buzby061
Lovely job. The Hispano Suiza engine improves the lines of the aircraft, almost makes it look attractive! Pete

The DH9 is a bit smaller then Wapiti (which is DH9A size) but Vildebeest is bigger indeed. And floats makes him much taller. For me that is also true - the Bristol radial engines looks a bit like an addition, not natural. But therefor it is also very characteristic and one of a kind. BTW - I started the radial one Thanks for comments Cheers J-W
Mitch K
Really great work! The Hispano engine suits the aircraft, and that camouflage pattern is sending me cross-eyed!😵

Pedro1
Really nice build Jerzy, and a brave one as well, considering the camouflage scheme. I have one half started in my stash, maybe I should drag it out and finally finish it 😉. Peter

JOCKNEY
Hi Jerzy I recently found a Replica Resin version of this aircraft in the stash but it either wasn't supplied with decals or no longer has them. You build is very inspirational compared to the Portuguese version I was tempted to build. I'm off to look for decals. Cheers Pat
