72modeler Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 Found this just now while trolling for schemes; evidently a B5N2 recovered from Papua, New Guinea is being restored to static display status. See the link below as well as an additional link to this aircraft's history. I would rather see a TBD, but the Kate was also a very historically significant aircraft, and just as rare. Bigglesof266 Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 So very pleased to see it, but a super expensive, mammoth task. The "Kate" is such a symbolically significant type of the era and IJN.
Navy Bird Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 I wonder how far along the restoration is, seeing as the articles are from 2016. I couldn't seem to find anything newer. Cheers, Bill
Steve N Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 I'm not sure if any actual work gas started on it. I get the impression that the museum isn't exactly rolling in cash. I don't mean that as an insult or anything, just that like most museums they don't have a huge budget and need to stretch every penny as far as they can..and they can't just dump a ton of cash into a massive restoration project.
