Pete in Lincs

Krieger Lunadiver variant - MANTA

Recommended Posts

Looking quality Pete! I love Ma.k designs and this to me is already looking better/more interesting than an actual lunadiver!!

Everytime I see your Ma.k designs I think to myself "one day I'll get myself a falke...... one day" I may just take a leaf out your book and bash one (as the Ma.k gods intended!)

Go for it! Much more fun than building out of the box. (Unless it's a kreiger kit).

All you need is a box full of bits, imagination and filler. Lots of filler.

The original used a 1/32nd P-38 and a small Japanese sports car in 1/24th as it's basis.

So go smaller. 1/48th P-38 and a 1/32nd car. I've done it using an Airfix Jaguar. It worked.

And, given the price of the P-38 nowadays, (if you can find one) is very much cheaper.

Shopping around, maybe you could get both for 25 pounds odd.

Thanks for that Pete, the scale of doner kits was one thing I wasn't sure of. Added then to my Christmas list.....

Here you go. The blue one (No 327) was built using the two kits as I suggested above.

Well Pete, after talking to you today at Southall and not having a scooby doo what you were talking about I have looked trough this thread and links and I see where you were coming from, I for one would never have seen those kits hidden in the whole of a finished kit and I have to say it looks incredible.

Nice to meet at last and enjoyed the chat.

It was good to meet you too, and the chat was great.

And thanks for the nice comments about the build.

One thing I forgot to mention if scratchbuilding a Falke.

There are three hemispheres underneath. These are anti gravity units.

On the full size model they are actually halves of table tennis balls.

(Available very cheap from China. A silly price over here).

If you go down in scale to a I/48th P-38 then what I've done in the past

is go to the pound shops at this time of year and raid the Christmas tree baubles.

About an inch diameter should do it.

(Larger ones won't be needed so can be used to gain Brownie points. 'Look what I bought you, Dear...')
