Roman Schilhart
Dear fellow Britmodellers, this is AZ Model's Messerschmitt Bf-109 G6, built from the 'Joy Pack' boxing, with Brengun photo etch and pitot from Master Model added. Decals are a mix of USK (wing markings), Hasegawa (fuselage code number), AZ Model (Italian flags) and Sky Models (small '8'). The aircraft represented served with 3. Squadrilla, 2. Gruppo Caccia, based at Villafranca airfield in late 1944. This build would have not been possible without the valuable help of fellow Britmodeller Luis Alfonso, who not only tracked down the USK decal sheet, but also a vital reference ("Italian Air Forces 1943-1945" by R.Caruana). Thank you Luis... The model was painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics, weathering with artists oils. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. I realized too late that USK got the upper wing markings wrong:. the outer arm of the fasces on the starboard side should face forward. Thanks for your interest, greetings from Vienna! Thank you for your nice feedback, Mitch. I did not dare to make any corrections to the basic nose shape as the risk of damaging the surface details is bigger than the attempted improvement; we're talking in dimensions less than a millimeter here. I am totally happy with the AZ Model Bf-109 line, and have quite a collection already (with 14 models finished). I would also agree that FineMolds Bf-109s are superior in dimensions and parts fit, but their products are relatively hard to come by, and more expensive than AZ's offering (at least, in my region).
Spitfire31
Very neat and pristine build! Which makes those silver paint decorations on the prop blades all the more difficult to understand… 😉 Otherwise excellent modelling! Luis Alfonso
Hi My Friend Roman!!! Congratulations for this new gem you added to your nice collection, It's nice to watch this one very well done after a long time!!! When I was looking for some information about the Italian Aircraft of WW II, have found some old Squadron books and only the Part II of the more mordern (1990's) Squadron books reference, but watching and enjoying this one, have got some appreciation about those valiant warriors fighthing in this side of the battle...and when watched advertised the Aviation Usk decals dealing with some of the subjects.without doubt went after that. When I bought the two sets of Aviation USK decals a long time ago together with some other things, have never dreamed with the idea of knowing another modeler, and a not italian one, that was really a very ardent fan of the ANR birds!!! Seem I have something in common with all my modeling friends and in this case it was a great pleasure to share info and decals for you, and contribute to reach your goals increasing your nice ANR birds collection It was a nice story how to move the Aviation Usk Decal sheet from this side of the pond to the other, and looking for something I wanted not realted with ANR have found a German Seller at Ebay selling this old but very valuable book closer to you...it was your luck and it was your lucky day!!!. I like a huge lot the nice result you obtained with nice ideas and techniques to try my hand too. I liked a huge lot how you tackle this build, you really put in it passion, blood, sweat and tears... And after all, obtained a first class build...will you share it in SAMI My Friend???...Hope when I do mines will look at least a 30% wonderful as yours!!! Thank you very much for sharing!!!
