Snowman
As my Alfa project stalled and I seem to lost my inspiration, I looked else where for inspiration and stumbled onto a cheap Lancia Stratos kit........now who doesn't love a Lancia Startos!!?? Anyway, now with a bit more inspiration the Alfa is chugging along with the Lancia. I'm looking to have the driver and navigator shoe-horned into the kit - if you have seen any photos of the Lancia - they appear to be like two large "bobble heads" in the dinky rally car windscreen! Well that is where I am heading. Like with the Alfa, photo's will be posted in the very near future.

Spiny
Looks like a good start but I'm not sure about the voodoo dolls...

I wire them up to give them more rigidity and allow for easier mounting of the arms and head. It also assists with posing. These Tamiya vinyl figures are hard to come by but they are more affordable than the £20 each, resin figures that I found.
Snowman
Well, I've done a little more work, test fitted the driver & nav, painted the interior black and gave the wheels a bit of colour. Moving forward slowly, but I'm getting there. The kit as such is very basic so I'm adding a bit to it - wire wheels +resin tyres from Profil24. Thanks for asking!👍

Snowman
Hi there, I've managed to start the very scary decals, which are (touch wood) good quality decals and go on very well - a big thumbs up to Italeri!! I've built Tamiya motorcycles in the past and landed up swearing the air blue with their decals! Any way, the Stratos is now starting to gain "life". This first foto is of the tail lights going on. tail lights by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr This next foto is of the comprehensive decal sheet. decal 1 by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr The next three foto's are of WIP, and still not finished! decal 2 by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr decal 3 by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr decal 4 by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr There is still plenty more decals to go and I have still got to finish the interior! Thanks for watching!👍

Spiny
You're doing a much better job with the decals than I did when I built the Tamiya version 30 or so years ago. Got to agree with you that they are a very daunting prospect, but so far it looks as though you're doing fine with them. Keep up the good work
Snowman
Phew!!😓 Well, that is the bulk of the decals for now. I'm gonna give the decals a little time then I'l clear coat. There are still the number plates some other bits and bobs decals. These are on the front and rear but I'll need to wait for the clear to harden then I'll apply the matt black and do the window gasket surrounds. Homerlovesbeer
Nice work mate. Hilarious how cars get zero love on this site. Work in progress forum for cars has only a few in 2018! My WIP from 2016 has not moved as I've been renting since last post and my stuff is in storage. I miss my modeling. 2
NickD
Hey Homerlovesbeer, your point is well made. Though what we lack in numbers of new projects we make up for by not completing anything and generating the longest threads! Hope you get back to modelling soon Nick 1
PatW
Superb so far. One of my favourites when I was a rally marshall in the day with these flying through the forests on the RAC Rally.

Snowman
Now, as I was saying.....the wheels are now on, the driver and nav have directions to the next special section, WEATHERING!! Who has ever seen a clean rally car in action??😁 IMG_20181104_213141 by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr IMG_20181104_213122 by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr IMG_20181104_213208 by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr IMG_20181104_213220 by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr IMG_20181104_213336 by Gavin Snowdon, on Flickr She is not perfect, but I am perfectly happy thus far. All that is left to be done is the weathering and a suitable base. Thanks for watching!👍
