Homebee
Scale confirmed: 1/48th Seen in the AFV-Club Facebook. Definitely a Lockheed U-2 or TR-1 outrigger wheel 3D render. Considering it's AFV-Club - a Taiwanese company - , I’ll bet it will be the U-2C most commonly used by the RoCAF Black Cat Sqn (link). Cross my fingers for a new tool 1/48th Dragon Lady kit... But I fear she'll be in 1/144th scale. To be followed. Source: https://www.facebook.com/AFVCLUB.TW/photos/a.1888884937823683/1894502393928604/?type=3&theater V.P. VMA131Marine
This is no smaller than 1/48. Is it possible that they would do a U-2/TR-1 in 1/32? That would be awesome!

Homebee
IMO it doesn't fit the rather round shape of the U-2 fuselage dorsal spin. Rui Silva
Hi Homebee, Maybe as the ROCAF operated the F-104 as well could they have used a F-104 "sunshade" also with U-2 operations? Parabat
Maybe they're going to do both?! Whammy!
Filler
I'm no authority on the U-2 (or anything for that matter), but I believe that the canopy used on U-2's is all part of the access step contraption. So it is suspended over the cockpit and does not make any physical contact with the aircraft. So pretty sure that sun shade is not intended for a Dragon Lady model. A couple of examples: and a link to a photo of a two seat version (just be aware that this image I found is in a gallery that contains some glamour shots. I couldn't link direct to the image but there's nothing too racy in there). 4

tony.t
The earlier U-2C/CT used a similar single/double "howdah" arrangement extending from the steps platform. That, adapted for the Dragon Lady, and some David Clark besuited pilots, would be a treat. Glad to hear AFV may be doing a big Starfighter after all, and a Dragon Lady in either 1/48 or 1/32 would be super. Tony
Homebee
1/48th detail level? tony.t
As long as it's not 1/35. I'd buy it in 1/48 or 1/32 given camera bay detail Tony

Rui Silva
I hope it's in 1/48 scale, even so the wingspan of the U-2C (24,38m) in that scale would be 50,8cm!
exdraken
wasn't the U-2 just a Starfighter with long wings and a different engine.... (designprinicple wise?)
6thCCU
Ok from looking at the brakes on the wheels & the bulge on the centerline of the gear doors I’m convinced this is a U-2C I’m hoping in 1/72 or dare I say 144th , whatever scale you can get more mileage out of an early 50’s U-2 kit then the later U-2R-U-2S Dragon Lady,

JeffreyK
Ahhh, there goes my project. 😣 But perhaps my data can be utilised somehow someday. Maybe a U-2C... This one does look good though, at least judging by there pictures. Cheers J
