DR Design 1/72 Otto Lilienthal Kleiner Doppeldecker 1895

Oh my lord.  These just get better an better Moa.   An absolutely beautiful little model.  Like holding a delicate moth in your hands, as I've done this evening, gently escorting one off the premises.

Such a graceful model, and in an 'impossible' scale, too…

It's interesting to note the absence of moveable control surfaces. Apparently, Lilienthal just used his body to shift the centre of gravity – a method that was his undoing in his last flight, when he couldn't move his body far enough aft in order to counteract a nose down attitude.

Kind regards,

Joachim

Method still used today in hang gliders.
