Joining you with this kit.

To build as RAAF version, with these Frog decals.

Here are the parts, some painting, but no construction.

Some of you may recognise that light blue from my recent PB J Mitchell.

Well this will also be re-airbrushed, similar colours to my Avenger.

This kit cost me £5 from Chelt Model Centre in 1999, and has remained untouched ever since.

With me wondering - why did I buy that?

Looking forward to this,..... don`t forget to fill in the door on the right hand side as there wasn`t actually one there!

Cheers

Welcome aboard with a subject we don't see very often.

I do like the scheme you've chosen, the RNZAF were the mostly widely used of the type (thought not at all liked initially). The even were used to conduct fighter sweeps, with one notable occasion in now of them taking on 9 Japanese land based fighters. They shot down 3, plus 2 more probables and though heavenly damaged managed to return home with crew all intact!

Good luck with the build, it'll be great to follow, and I look forward to seeing her in the gallery.

that's a huge transparent section!! It was a simple option for the manufacturer to do it that way but it can cause the issues you face.

But she does look good, hopefully you can sort the issue out without too much trouble.

I've marked up the instructions to show how I fitted the nose. It's not a good fit.

First the vertical component of the nose joint. This shows that the nose section has a difference in width of over 1mm, so the nose doesn't actually join at all!

Once that has well and truly set, pull the top of the nose together, and superglue that.

Then, I filled the gaps in the nose section. MASSIVE gaps.

Checking the joints, and a bit more work is necessary.

But I fitted the wings this afternoon.

Most of the corrective work now completed, and I started work on the underside gun position last night.

Just spotted Tony's comment about the door - thanks.  More tippex to eliminate that outline.

Hoping that this is ready for airbrushing at the weekend.

I have 459SQN decals for it

You got the Red Roo set too have you Ray? :)

This is looking good Tim, I reckon it'll look near as good in Aussie colours as it would have in Kiwi ones. ;) :D

Canopy framed, and national insignia applied.

I've read that these are incredibly rare decals, so how they finished up in my hands - well another of life's great mysteries.  RAAF 13 Sqdn.

Enjoy,  I am.

I've found internet comments, that the Frog Ventura was never released.

Bankruptcy came before its grand debut.

40,000 boxes were produced, an unknown number of decals sets, no instructions - and just 100 sets of parts - some of which have escaped to collectors etc.

It makes me feel really good about this build that one of those decal sets has found me, and been used on a model Ventura.     Like if you like that - I love it!

This Ventura is looking just lovely and your  paintwork is to be highly commended. Well done all round. I’ve got this kit and it’ll be hard not to break it open after watching this build completed.

Cheers.. Dave
