As a result of the close-down of the UK by the British Government last night, we have made all the Buy/Sell areas read-only until we open back up again, so please have a look at the announcement linked here.

Italeri RAF 43SQN Display Flanker

Recommended Posts

This is my first RFI and I’m the first to admit I need many, many, hours, days, weeks and more than likely years of experience to get to the superb standards displayed here on a daily basis. This Italeri Sea Flanker purchased as part of a job lot when I looked in the box I that it was more of a jobby lot with one canard missing and a decal sheet that looked like it had been chewed by a rabid badger.

The kit actually went together well and in my opinion it looks like a Flanker. As I had a surplus of RAF Phantom decals I had a flash of inspiration and here it is. I know the paintwork is rough as I had several disasters with reactions when applying the gloss coat that made it look like crazy paving. After a rigorous rub down with 1500 wet and dry and a re-coat of Vallejo Gloss Laquer I set about it with decals and here it is.

Sorry if I offend the purists among you but I’m pleased with the results.

That's a brilliant execution of a what-if, it looks very convincing!

Breaking news: Today SU27UR (United Republics) interceptors from 43 Squadron of the BRAF (British Republic Air Force) intercepted an American spyplane over the North sea. It was escorted out of British airspace.🇨🇳

In an alternative universe somewhere. 😗

Looks great in RAF colours, shame we always seem to buy American when there is lots on offer out there (oooh politics, duck and cover people!)

The CO of the 237th TsPAT at Kubinka was not too happy that his personal aircraft had been zapped over the weekend by 43 Sqn RAF during their Squadron exchange.

We wait with interest to see the Tornado F3 in full Russian Knights colours.

Lovely model by the way!
