Thanks -  it means a lot! :D

I had some severe silvering under the underwingnumerals, but I think I saved them by laying some cuts and then giving them some Microscale Sol again - now only time will tell. :hmmm:

So! The decaling on the plane itself is now done!! :yahoo:

The decaling on the fueltanks still remains, but for now I'm done! :yahoo:

The glosscote however is a bit of a mystery to me :hmmm::

I am now letting the glosscote dry thoroughly and will be decaling the fueltanks in the meantime.

Perhaps I should paint the red stripes instead of using the decals? :hmmm:

This one looks better with your every update Hans. I'd not worry too much about the gloss coat staying satin as I'm sure we can call it weathering ;)

Just a query with the gloss coat, doesnt this stuff have to go on wet i.e the wing needs to be flooded rather than a dry application.

I use an airbrush (Tamiya Modelworks Single-Action) and give it a quiet heavy layer where it looks wet, but it still ends up like satin?:hmmm:

I just gave it yet another layer, and it's still satin. I just don't know.

I'd say it needs a little blending to get the right effect over the airframe Hans. Do you have much in the way of reference photos?

I have some pictures and this is only the beginning! :D

This is only to accentuate some of the panellines. It may be a tad overdone, and perhaps I'm too influenced by the 'Spanish School'? :hmmm:

I had planned some further weathering with some oil colours. If all other fails, I'll put it down to artistic license!

Cheers and thanks for the respons! :bye:

Sounds as if you have a plan in place there :D

Well .... not really! :innocent: I'm just having fun and make it up as I go along!

But I did blend it a bit and actually just five minutes ago decided that 'this is it'!

Just need to weather the tanks and glue them in place and then that's it! :yahoo:

But what do do next....? :hmmm:

Epiloque:

This has been a fun quick build, but in the end it always comes down to one thing:

Would I build another one? :hmmm:

The Pro's are: Simple build with few problems encountered, beautifull subject

The Con's are: Challenging decals, high price (about 50£ now!), not many different colourschemes to choose from (EDSG and White)

Well - the verdict is yes! I would build another one, but only if I can find it at a cheaper price and replace the decals.

Hi

Ive only just caught up with  this thread and think that you have done a good job of the scimitar.

For the issue of your gloss might be the initial finish. I would suggest a rub with very fine sanding pad 1000 or1500 grit and then a flood varnish as recommended by hardtargethe above. This is generally where I start. A good brush coat of future and then spray the right finish on later. HTH
