Marko Jeras
Dear Gentelmen, Spitfire IX MH654 was in USAAF 31st FG at the beginning of 1944. Before handing it to MAAF, it had cammouflage and all markings removed in Italy. Then it got new RAF markings. It was then handed to 1435. Squadron. As can be seen on this photo, serial was re-applied with stencil. Does anyone might have photos of numbers 4 and 5 to see how stencil looked? Thank you for reading, Marko Jeras Edited August 29, 2018 by Marko Jeras Typo

Sonoran
That was done in the field, so who knows what it may have looked like... Unless you can find other aircraft from the same squadron, the best you are likely to get is a good guess.
FinnAndersen
As far as I know, there was never a definitive standard font, so you are on your own. However, as far as the examples I have seen, the four almost always looked like this 4 , but the five comes in a bewildering number of styles. In your example, the six is sort of semi rounded, indicating that you will want to match that. Anyhow, nobody, and I mean nobody, will ever be able to tell you that you have used a wrong font. I'd just make sure that it looks alike, the five and the six. HTH Finn
