Sola-Stavanger Airshow 2012

Hi Folks,

 

Sorting through my old collection of photos and came across a set dedicated to my coverage of the Sola-Stavanger Airshow back in 2012. The full show only takes place every 5 years with a more modest event each year. For 2012, we managed to attract several 'star' items including no less than four aircraft from the Swedish Historic Flight, the Polish Air Force MiG-29 display aircraft and, quite obviously, a significant Norwegian contingent celebrating the 100 years of aviation in Norway. Putting on this airshow is quite a challenge since it has to fir around the regular commercial aviation schedules from what is, essentially, a civilian airport with a very small military enclave. There is always excellent liaison and cooperation between ATC and the Airshow organisers and one or two operators have even obliged with a short delay to their arrival or departure to slot (pardon the pun) into the overall schedule.

 

Anyway, here is a small selection from that weekend - cannot believe it was over 6 years ago - how time flies

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Swedish Hunter Display Pilot provided what was probably the best Hunter display sequence I have ever witnessed anywhere....(and I've seen a fair few including Singapore and Oman)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This SA 737 even came around and did a series of low flybys - I hasten to add it was on a post-acceptance check flight and was not carrying passengers but it was an impressive sight !
