What a beautiful model. It exudes reality.  That finish is spectacular.

I will now go back and read through the WIP to see how this was achieved,

Hello Paul,

I have to admit, this is the most beautiful passenger model aircraft I have ever seen in my more that forty years career in modeling.

OUTSTANDING.

Regards, Orion.

Thank you, Orion....

I really appreciate your kind words. I must say that there are so many other models out there that far and exceed my work...its just a hobby for me. I take my time, and enjoy what I do, as I am sure most do. Once in a while, I strike a hot iron and do OK with one. I'm pretty proud of the Connie...it'll be a while before I do another 1/72 scale beauty...they are large, tedious, and demanding. I hop you got a chance to take a look at the WIP in this one. It shows details of her journey from box to finish line.

Red Bull wishes they could get this kind of finish on their  fleet! A beautiful model of the most beautiful propliner ever! 👌

Beautiful model, absolutely stunning! I love Connies. Quite a few years ago I was very fortunate to have a day stop-over in Amsterdam returning from a work deployment; on that very day a Constellation came home to the Netherlands from America after a lengthy return to flight and flew over Amsterdam escorted by a Fokker 50 and an Orion. I will never ever forget the sight and sound of that beautiful aircraft. I love your model 🙂

Thank you, Astel. You have a memory that will last a lifetime. I mourn the era of those classic propliners gone by, but every once in a while I find myself at an airshow where one or two are displayed after they've been restored, or one flies by in her throaty splendor, or I land at an airport where a few are still being used as cargo haulers after more than 60 years of service. Glad you enjoyed the post; thank you for your kind words.

Thank you, Mike! I think Red Bull is still flying their old DC-6, and she still looks pretty shiny to me! I just wish I could get my model to look as good as the old Douglas does! Regardless of the "finish," it means there's still an old propliner flying, and that is what counts!

This build was pointed out to me by "Moa" while it was still a work in progress; stunning!

About scale antenna wire, "invisible thread" from any sewing shop or department store is also thin elastic monofilament & very affordable.

Cheers, -Lars

I keep re-visiting this thread to take another look at the finished model. It delights every time.

These are the kindest words...I really appreciate this. This one was challenging to build, for sure. took a very long time, and I nearly ripped out all of my hair. Through dropping the whole thing onto the floor once, making parts to fit, re sculpting one of the engine mounts, disintegrating decals, and some disappointing paint lines...she turned out OK. She sits proudly upstairs across from my workbench, where I see her every time I go there to hack out another model.

Thanks to EVERYone for your kind words.

Your Connie has to be the most beautiful model I have ever seen. Craftsman like work with exquisite results. I could stare at the pictures for hours.
