1/48 Mk.I Spitfire

Hello all

Now that it seams the new tool 1/48 Spitfire Mk.I is all but impossible to find, can anybody recommend a good alternative please.

No. The Airfix kit is one to get, and unless you need one NOW one will turn up, or Airfix will do a new boxing.

This seems to be their new policy,  do a smallish run, sell out, wait for demand and then reissue.

Eg Sea Vixen, Javelin, Valiant, Sea Fury....

 

The only other alternatives were Revell Mk.II, Tamiya Mk.I, old tool Airfix Mk.I

All can be made into decent Spitfire's but all need a load of work.

If you can deal with the Tamiya faults, short, fat, too broad wing,  it's a good kit in that it assembles well.  It can be fixed but it's some serious surgery.
